NVIDIA HairWorks enables users to simulate and render fur/hair to provide a truly interactive game experience. The simulation/rendering currently requires a DX11 capable GPU.

AMD and Nvidia need to collaborate on this stuff.  No point in having this tech exclusive for one GPU manufacturer

Pretty cool. Hair has been one of the most difficult - if not the most difficult - organic materials to simulate in gaming. No matter how good all the other graphics look in a game, hair will always be the ultimate give away that ruins photo-realism. The fact that Nvidia has achieved this level of simulation is amazing. It's still not quite realistic, but it's pretty close.

have a 980. played withcer 3. ultra settings . got 40 fps. turned off nvidia hairworks. got 60...

looks good when they are at peace... but when they start moving it always looks like they are underwater.

Totally immersive. Especially with the "LEFT MOUSE" prompt flashing on screen. Well worth the effort.

This is very good but it needs to tone down the L'Oreal Salon look. More dirt and grease needed.

No way that full wolf hair simulation is there in the game.
Tressfx, one piggy tail simulation for Tomb Raider was a frame killer, and now you're serious about this full fur wolf?

And COD Dogs/Wolfes are nothing compared to the wolf in Witcher 3.

AMD: Makes TressFX which works really well AND is open source so Nvidia can use it too

Nvidia: Makes HairWorks exclusively to Nvidia only and say it's completely new and has never been in a game before

It's actually nice of nVidia that Hairworks is a DirectCompute effect and not a Physx one.

That means that Witcher 3 will look absolutely beastly on PC, regardless of GPU.

Truly the next gen technology we've all been waiting for! Hopefully this technology will be expanded on in the next Call of Duty installment so that we may experience teabags like never before.

This is impressive but making this proprietary is exactly what Nvidia have always done and will continue to do. This is not good for the industry at all.

It would be interesting to see what this system would look like if applied to something like grass. There was a wind affect shown.

So it was Nvidia who proposed the idea of including a dog in Ghosts? :P Guess it makes sense that the only innovation in that game wasn't even thought up by Infinity Ward!

Wonder if it could work with the built-in Hair module in Cinema4D, if not now maybe in the future possibly.
