My breastfeeding journey after preeclampsia

I don't think anyone would say breastfeeding is easy, but I know many women who will say it is rewarding, and one of the greatest seasons of life.
In this video, I share about my journey through breastfeeding my daughter, and I also share how postpartum preeclampsia affected our journey. We had many breastfeeding complications in the beginning. From the start I had a high risk pregnancy due to my chronic hypertension (had hypertension before pregnancy, was not gestational hypertension in pregnancy) which caused my daughter to be born prematurely. When I developed preeclampsia, I had no idea the effect it would have on our breastfeeding and lactation journey. It was not easy by far, I cried a lot, I prayed a lot, and many times I was discouraged. I made this video to share how we conquered postpartum preeclampsia and its effect on breastfeeding. There is an association between breastfeeding and preeclampsia, and for us my daughter was pretty much on a nursing strike after I came home from the hospital recovering from postpartum preeclampsia. She had breast refusal due to bottle feeding while I was being hospitalized. My daughter was not latching and I did not think she would ever breastfeed at the breast. I was determined to nourish her with breastmilk so I pulled the breast pump out and made pumping my daily routine. I am not sure if I ever had low milk supply since I had a premature birth, however, that did not stop me from continuing to pump when my baby was refusing the breast.
Little did I know, that after 3 months of trying, my sweet girl would begin to breastfeed from then to now. Breastfeeding initiation is possible. If you are wondering how do I get my baby through a nursing strike, stay tuned! Here we are almost two years into our breastfeeding journey, the rest is history. Motherhood is beautiful! You can do this!

It would go a long way to normalizing breastfeeding if we do not censor it. Censoring it makes it look sexual. Breastfeeding is natural and beautiful. Just my 2 cents as a new mom who has been harassed for nursing my baby.
