Premature baby - Nutrition and feeding

When a baby is born more than three weeks earlier than the expected delivery date, the baby is referred to as ‘premature’ or “preemie”. Premature babies are often at high nutritional risk due to their increased needs for growth, reduced nutrient stores, feeding difficulties and underlying medical conditions. The Speech Therapist and Dietician can assess your baby’s feeding skills and nutrition and advise appropriately. Nurses will be available to advise and support you while you breastfeed. Your baby will be on a milk-only diet till 4-6 months corrected age, when he/she may be ready for weaning.

I was born at 32 weeks I now have a daughter of my own. Unfortunately she was prem herself being born at 32+6. She's almost 3 weeks old and although she's still in SCBU she is doing well. Fingers crossed she will be home soon

my baby daughter born at 35 weeks of pregnancy and 3.9lbs, now 6.5 months later she is 12 lbs (below 3rd percentile), she started eating better (900ml/24hours) about 5 months but than went to hospital for viral infection and since than she is just barely eating half of it (400-480ml/24 hours)

Very positive video with some tips inside! Mine was born last week at 35+1 and just working hard to keep it going and developing. Breast milk is best but I’d also recommend trying vitamin drops too to add more nutrition
