The Persian Wars were fought between the Greeks and Persians over two thousand years ago. Their battles originated for many of the same reasons wars happen today - resources, pride, revenge and prejudice.

Also when Cyrus the Great invaded Greece. The king of Greece told the Iranians we are fighting for honor but you for wealth! And Cyrus the Great replied: Yes, everyone fights for what he does not have !!! (:

As a Zoroastrian Persian, i can say our people have nothing but admiration and love for the greeks. Its them first and then the romans. But no other culture in the world is as dear to us than the Greeks. Love and respect.

Darrius was not Sirus's son, Sirus had two sons . Cambudiah (who conquered Egypt) and Bardia (who were assassinated by cabudiah) . Darrius was Sirus's nephew who unified Persia again.

the Roman and Persian War was the longest conflict in human history, lasting discontinuously over 680 years... still no one talks about it, Highlights it or make movie about it... they always talk about two time war of Greeks and Persians war (Darius and Xerxes).

actually Leonitus took roughly 7000 men to thermoplaly, but a Greek trator told the Persians of a secret passage the Persians could take to get behind the spartans. When the Spartans found out all but 300 men retreated. The Spartans fought till death. when Leonitus was killed the Spartans defended it desperately, but the Persians killed all 300 Spartans decapitated Leonitus's head and put it on a spear, walked to Athens, and but it to the ground.

Darius was not son of Cyrus but a distant cousin.
Notes: to compare Persian and Greek society, in Persia, slavery was forbidden all workers including those who built Persepolis, the system was based on meritocracy not race so many greeks could reach to high ranks in Persia, unlike greeks women had good status, Artemisia of Caria was an example of a greek woman leading Persian navy, freedom of religion was enforced, Darius erected the second temple of jews and many temples for egyptians, pax Iranica which lasted for centuries made a peaceful atmosphere for triving culture
