I was very quiet up through my 20s, and it's amazing how many people just get *pissed off* by someone sitting around and enjoying the company without saying anything. I got lots of "who do you think you are" and "you're so stuck up", and all that was happening is I didn't watch the movies/listen to the bands/know their friends and was just trying to live. Now I've got the opposite problem, where I start babbling at people because I'm afraid I'm going to get yelled at, insulted, or ditched if I'm quiet because that actually happened to me a ton.
