At last! I've found what I need to help me begin my journey! I can't draw a straight line, but have always loved buildings. Having watched a few urban sketching channels, I stumbled on your channel today - 9 Jan 23! I'm 60 and so excited to learn to draw. As another poster has said, I've been ping ponging around from watercolour flowers, doodles, buildings, landscapes etc, and realised I need to learn how to draw - how to break things down, perspective and then focus on one area. I'm beginning at the beginning of your channel! Thank you for sharing your immense talent!

Seems like a no-brainer but I really needed to hear #1. I’ve been going crazy trying to learn EVERYTHING switching daily from pen and ink to watercolour, from botanical drawing to landscapes to urban sketching. I think I need to settle for just one medium and genre and focus on getting good at it.

Thank you sir for the video. I stumbled on your instagram yesterday and was delighted to know that you have youtube. I just started my journey into the art world beginning of this year. Love watercolour and sketching. I was overwhelmed and try everything from flowers, wilderness, architecture etc. It was exhausted. Thanks to your video now I know what I should focus on...what I enjoy looking at..that is building.

I ended up overthinking for almost 1 and a half year to think about most of tips that you've given there and another things.. but the video help me to realize that I'm on the right path now 😁. I think my problems now are the overwhelming sources out there for beginners, like what basics do I need to learn first? or what are the drills do I need to draw everyday? or something like that.

Hello Stephen, thank you for the great advice. Whenever I feel unmotivated, I catch one of your videos and feel encouraged. :-) Question for you, what paper do you use for drawing? I have bought several watercolour papers but it seems that you use something else for with your Copic fine liners.

this video helps me a lot, thank you Stephen. I decide to go with pencil and paper as materials I'm going to focus on as beginner. Do you have any suggestion for any type of paper? should i go with sketchbook or with piece of papers? what do you think about 2D building landscape art?
