Looking really good there. I'm going to try the ruler thing for my next portrait. You made a lot of sense. Thank you.

Really like this, also have not thought about ready tinted paper.I have been drawing one of my Grandchildren at various ages.I do use a ruler but usually get the shape of face first.I do enjoy all of your videos.Thank you.

The first day the paper looked tan/buff then it changed to grey but from what you said it wasn't grey.
Really enjoyed this great drawing.
Steve Mitchell mind of watercolour made some dip pens. But pencils that's ambitious.

I like this video, and I plan on trying out your tips - use a ruler and cover the mouth.
Thanks!

I start with the nose since its in the center of the face. its easier to use it as a reference point for the rest of the features!

I use my son's scalling diveders when I start to paint to keep check on the shapes, sometimes the brush can pull the lines out, tfs your method.

A painting or drawing with oil pastels that show the use of either finger painting techniques or blending and smudging to create different effects.

I start with the outline of the figure or person. To me that dictates where the eyes nose and ears go. Work from the outside in. Always been my way of doing that.

Nice start to the drawing looking good. As for broken pencils I got that with derwent so I switched to the Faber castel 9000 pencils no broken ones think the leads are bonded to the case as with their polychromos colour pencils which I like as they are oil based

Great drawing, thanks for the tips. I was wondering if you have ever dry brushed acrylic colour onto your pencil drawings?

Never thought about using a ruler. I did a portrait and it's not the likeness that I wanted. Maybe I need to go back and start measuring. It's probably too late for this painting.

the smudging with a finger is a archival issue to do with the grease in your fingers long term affecting the paper.
