Parity Check and Parity Bits (Error Detection)

preview_player
Показать описание
A parity bit is a computer bit (1 or 0) within a byte of data that is used to enforce the parity checking rule agreed by two computers (even or odd).

The parity bit is used to ensure there are an even or odd number of 1s or 0s within the byte prior to transmission.

When received, any data that does not meet the parity check rule is dismissed and a request is made for it to be resent.

I am now confused. No other videos claim the 0's have to be even or odd matching the 1's.

I rarely leave comments but you deserve it! Well done! So clear, so concise!

Your Videos and the way you narrate and explain them is really good. Simple, calming and easy to understand. Your voice and tone plays a really good role in that too. Please do upload more.

Easy to understand and now know why it’s used. Thanks

Thank you so much for clarifying this concept. I know I read the matrix checking somewhere before but completely forgot about it till now.
Great content =)

How does the second computer know which parity rule to use?

what if one whole byte is filled then where does the parity bit go
for example 10010010 is the data we are sending now where does the parity bit go please respond

Isn't bytes 8 bits? why the parity check is exactly the 8 bit? Isn't that bit part of the data?

Which protocol agrees with even or odd parity checks between sender and receiver? What happens if the parity bit gets corrupted, is the data labeled as incorrect in this case?

jayeshrao

does the parity bit changes or it stays based on what type of communication the both sides (sender and receiver ) agree on (even or odd)

*watches video to see how the parity flaw can be fixed*
*expectations high and eager to see the solution*

"Parity blocks have the same flaw as parity bit checking"

*big sad ensues*

there are few things that annoys me in this subject:
1) does the sender sends the parity bit with the rest of the information?
2) most importantly, if no then how does the receiver knows which bit to use between 1 and 0 for the parity bit?
3) if the answer for question 1 is yes then why the hell we send a parity bit or even create such concept, why not just adjust the receiver and sender to odd-1's type of damn it I'm so confused!!

I watched this video twice, slowly. finally, I understand them. but there is one thing still I don't get, perhaps my English is bad.
about how they agreed which parity rule to be used. can you/others explain it to me again, please?
