Christmas movies arent defined by having actual Christmas stuff in it, they are defined by ritual, by tradition, by families watching them during the season and them becoming a part of their Christmas. For my family: A Low Down Dirty Shame is a Christmas movie, as is: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Just watch the end credits.. they play two different Christmas songs.. it IS a Christmas movie.

2. Movie Takes place at a Christmas Party.
3. Excessive use of Christmas Elements (tree, tons of Santa’s, lights, etc.)
4. The classic Ho-Ho-Ho elevator scene. He even puts the Santa hat on the defeated Tony.
5. Outro song: Let it snow
6. Family focus: The main character, John McClane, is motivated to reunite with his family for Christmas, when he is faced by multiple difficulties which instill lessons of selflessness and love.
