Let's settle this debate once and for all... I'm not sure about all this red and green "decor" Penn speaks of. #parody #diehard #christmas

It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off Nakotomi Plaza. Also, a Christmas song is played during the closing credits, therefore making it a Christmas movie! 🎄

It's about an estranged father and husband trying to get his family back for the holidays. If that's not a Christmas movie, I don't know what is. Ho-Ho-Ho.

Die Hard is ABSOLUTELY a Christmas movie. Plus, you have to watch it straight after Love Actually, so that Alan Rickman gets punished for what he does to Emma Thompson.

The basic rule of thumb is this: if you take Christmas out of Die Hard, the movie materially changes. Kim: It doesn’t just take place during Christmas it HAS to take place during Christmas. Almost all of its humor would disappear, the sound track would have to go. a lot of its motivations would be changed. It is hands-down, unequivocally a Christmas movie. it may not be the kind of Christmas movie that people think of when you say Christmas movie, but you can’t take Christmas out of this movie and still have the same movie.

Not only is Die Hard a Christmas movie, it is my favorite Christmas movie. Kim, try watching it just before going to the mall shopping in December. It sets the tone admirably.

John McClane is invited to a Christmas party, he brings a Christmas present to said Christmas party, he writes, “Ho Ho Ho” on a dead guy, and his wife’s name is Holly. Plus, they are a married couple whose marriage is rocky and they reconcile at the end. If that’s not enough to convince you that it’s a Christmas movie, think of it this way: the entire movie is based around a group people held in captivity awaiting the arrival of a savior!

If it wasn't for the Christmas party at Nakatomi Plaza there would be no movie, thus it must be a Christmas movie!!

To answer whether an 11 year old should watch it:

The violence is cartoony. There are good morals taught: family comes first; relationships require work, and the work is worth a good relationship; friendship can be some of the most meaningful relationships of all; compromise within relationships is sometimes necessary; it’s important to admit your mistakes; privacy should be respected.

I’m sure there are more. Those are just what I could think of off the top of my head. Personally, I think those are worthwhile things for kids to be exposed to, outweighing the cartoony violence.

Let the kid enjoy the holiday movie.

Siri says, ”Die Hard is a movie set at Christmas. It is not a Christmas movie”

I'm laughing so hard at this one! Like @Steph Driscoll said, it's not really Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Tower. What's also funny is this is exactly what the folks on my Facebook feed say when it happens. I see a lot of "Hans Gruber has fallen from Nakatomi Tower..Merry Christmas!" 😂😂

I did a whole Podcast segment where I took notes and presented all the Christmas tropes and it totally matched 😆

Yippee ki yay! \o/ You nailed it. It’s just like a Hallmark Christmas movie where the family is fighting and estranged in the beginning but some challenge brings them together making them realize how important family is and all they want is to get back to each other in the end.

Our household watches this movie at Christmas every year. It's tradition. It's not a Hallmark movie which is WHY its enjoyable. Yes, its fine your 11 y.o. watches it. Probably less violent than their video games.

His wifes called Holly
Its at a Christmas party
Christmas trees and decorations everywhere
Tony dresses as 🎅 (sortof)
Winter Wonderland, ” “Let it Snow!, ” “Christmas in Hollis, ” and “Ode to Joy” on the soundtrack
Johns gun is wrapped in Christmas tape.
It snows at the end.

Your son's infectious laughter kept me laughing. Even if I didn't think the Dad puns were not funny I still laughed because he thought it was funny. Treasure this time because you know that only in a couple of years that from the gut laughter will sadly turn into eyerolls. They grow up so fast.

Every Christmas movie takes place during Christmas, so does Die Hard, I rest my case ☃️

It happens at a Christmas party. It starts and ends with a Christmas music. Its about a family. There's a Christmas Tree. It ticks all the Christmas movie boxes.
