Making the connection between the fretboard and the piano really made it click for me. I never noticed the lack of a sharp between b-c and e-f, but knowing that makes it trivial on guitar.

I am an old guy who has been learning the violin, I just love how logical the notes are.
I have been playing chords and singing with the guitar for years and know many notes at all.
The violin is a very different instrument, no frets, a bow that slides sideways and makes a horrible noise.
I have learned to read music and can play all the notes in first position but find the notes values and timing difficult.
I have to know how a tune goes before I can make it sound reasonable.
I play and sing at little gigs and open mike nights with guitar but I can see a lot to go wrong if I tried to play violin in public.

I think that a guitar player should really know the absolute basics on piano. It really is easier to get the idea of the notes in the note circle, with an easily recognizable on the piano. And he just mentioned the note circle! 😉✌️

The reason you have sharp and flat as the same note is that it shows each key to be described without repeating a note main name. In other words, each key has an A, B, C, D E & F, just with variations in sharps, or flats, or naturals. If we didn't label some as flat, then done keys would have repeated notes (albeit with a sharp)

How I learn the notes is doing scales. I call out the notes doing scales. That works. I can’t tell you where G is on the D string put I can play it.
