The Hobbit - Getting to Rivendell without Radagast

I have so much work I should be doing. But instead I 'fixed' one of my least favourite scenes in The Hobbit. I regret nothing.

Other opinions are available.

Gotta love it when inside the cave Gandalf is counting the dwarves like a school teacher out on a trip.

There's a part in the first LOTR movie when Arwen is trying to take Frodo to Rivendell where she rides through a big open area that has a bunch of pine or evergreen trees of some type. I always thought it was cool that they used that same location in the Hobbit as well for the outskirts of Rivendell.

4:29 Lmao Thorin is more disgusted with Elves than Orcs.

The film struggled at times with Gandalf's powers, the idea he couldn't scare off the Wargs with a simple light trick etc. A tough balance.

Cracks me up that one orc and warg was so(believably) hard to kill compared to how they can mow through them later like paper.

"We have to get out of here..."
"We can't! We got no ponies. They bolted!"
<everyone proceeds to run anyway>

It would have been better if Ragagast first meets Gandalf at meeting in Rivendell rather than here. They could also make the scene of him healing Sebastian and driving off the spiders a flashback while he explains what happened to the others.

I have nothing against Radagast and I love his line with the reference to the rabbits but the chase scene was a bit much because of some bad cgi. Therefore, I approve of this edition:)

This is brilliant!
I have been watching all of the different fanedits of the Hobbit to try to find my favorite and it bothers me to no end that not a single one of them thought to use that "We have no ponies, they bolted!" line to explain why the dwarves are suddenly all walking. They just have ponies, and then they don't. It wouldn't bother me as much if they had just spliced in that clip. It's not like the movies didn't have the explanation readily available, it's right there!

Orcs are supposed to avoid daylight. These ones are moving very easily during daylight.

Where was Radagast when the Westfold fell?

It was always ridiculous to have Radagast west of the Mountains as it is very specific in the books that he never even crosses the Anduin much less the Misty Mountains. But the dwarves needing to be saved by the elves from a few orcs?

You literally took out the best line of the movie. "These are Rhosgobel Rabbits. I'd like to see them try." Why don't you have any love for the brown wiz?

PJ's Rhosgobel rabbits are so powerful they can even take a sled across an entire mountain range in no time at all.
