Dr. Theodore Ho talks about the rapidly expanding possibilities of stem cells to be used in reversing or slowing the aging process. He discusses his previous and current work with the brain, including such methods as tissue clearing, multifiber photometry and optogenetics, and single resolution calcium imaging and control. Dr. Ho is a neuroscientist and stem cell biologist
studying the mechanisms and causes of biological aging and potential
strategies to slow or reverse them, in order to prevent the onset of age-
associated diseases to help us live healthier and longer lives.
He completed a four-year joint bachelor’s/master’s degree program in
Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology/Bioengineering at
Harvard University, and he received his PhD in Biophysics from the
University of California San Francisco, studying stem cell aging in the
lab of Dr. Emmanuelle Passegue. In college he developed a
nanoparticle drug delivery system, in graduate school he discovered
previously unknown mechanisms of cellular and molecular aging of
stem cells, and now in the Deisseroth lab he is using optical recording
and perturbation of neuronal activity to study neural circuit dynamics

Excellent video .i am a 56 year old man from the usa that had mesenchymal stemcells done in my shoulder a general iv and a pee shot . I got the stemcell therapy done in a different country and clinic, but it was incredible and quite affordable i am like a new man.. Thank you so much stemcells are incredible

Wow I made "first" on something for once. Not surprising it's a Ted Talk having to do with Neuroscience. Haha. I am so passionate about this field and now I really really want to know more about optogenetics!! I mean it’s terrifying that you say is the closest thing to mind control because that's the last thing we need in the world right now. However I am absolutely fascinated. Maybe it really is possible to break free from the cycle of death and rebirth with science alone. I'm a Hindu so I believe in reincarnation. I can't wait to start college so I can work on the cutting edge of neuroscience too!! Awesome Ted Talk!

Interesting video. How do you feel about mesenchymal stem cells therapy?

What is the shortest path someone could take to contribute in this field?

Thank you for this video. It is one of the best ones I’ve watched in the field of Stem cells research. I believe Autophagy is the key to the health of our Cells, including Stem Cells. We can easily increase Autophagy with ginger/lemon tonic. I learned this from the videos by Ryan Tailor.

In ancient yoga guru pathanjali's yoga sastra cites breathing decides the longivity.
Eg: gaint Turtles breath 4 or 5 breaths while man 18( in stressful condition 30/40) and dog 25 to 30+ per mt. Can some one researc on it.

The premise of this talk that young blood has factors that reverse aging in older nice has been rejected even plain plasma does the same all you have to do is dilute the old blood.

When will people finally act as if there was any way science can stop aging? It's getting OLD. There are videos 10 years old that say the same things. No progress has been made. It's always "model organisms" nobody in the audience belongs to. Nice to have lots of 10-day-old fruit flies instead of 5-day-old fruit flies, I guess.
