Japanese Anki Setup

Показать описание
In this video I go over how to set up Anki for first time users, and for people who need to re-install Anki. I make no claim that this video is perfect, or that there are not other viable setups for Anki, but this is the setup I use and suggest for others to use as they start out. You should adjust Anki to fit your own needs and wants!

Oh dear Lord, this video is a blessing, thanks! I ranted on Reddit not long ago about how Anki was severely stunting my Japanese instead of boosting it because I couldn't figure out how to make it work as so many others have seemingly done easily.

there are so many addons and programs for sentence mining that you get lost in getting the right way to start, thanks for the video!

2 year progression! Grats. I'm on 8 months. I probably did not study as hard as Matt vs Japan. Matt banned me during a live stream. He has no sense of humour. I'm guessing he never saw Borat. Sasha Cohen is a comedic legend. I want to check out some Japanese comedians when my comprehension is better.

Great video thanks. Straight to the point and not stuffed with nonsense and flash. Subscribed 👍

Hi! In your japanese Netflix frequency list video, you said that you have both audio and reading cards, and i don't know how to do it, i know that in the MIA/Migaku Japanese card (note?) type, there is a field "Audio on the front", but it change this one card, and doesn't create a new card. It also puts EVERYTHING that is normaly at the back of my card (the definitions) and not only the audio and maybe the screenshot. Can you help me please thanks in advance. :)

is Low Key Anki better than default anki if it makes it less punishing? wouldn't a harsher system make it better for learning? just a question I had but thanks for the video it helped me set up easily

would you update this video to more recent versions of Anki and Migaku / Refold? or do you think there is not need to?

How do you setup the pitch accent?
The website is a mess of information honestly

Hey there, thanks for the quality content as always. I have a doubt about reading the first Light Novel. I just started one and even before finishing the prologue, I'm bombarded with a ton of new words. Should I just check the meaning to understand the sentence or should I add every single word to my anki deck or should I not read a LN yet (my known morph count is 4200 btw). Keep doing the great work man. Thanks!!

Awesome video man. I’m about to finish tango n4 and was wondering your thoughts on the N3 book? Do you think it was worth it for someone that’s more limited on time, or do you at all wish you had gone straight to pure sentence mining after n4?

I just don't know where to get started with this. I really want to use this immersion approach, but i feel like the manuals of how to use the add-ons are quite complicated, and the setup is not user-friendly at all, so i feel really overwhelmed :/.

Compliments first. Just discovered this site today, and as I am had tried learning Japanese 20 years ago and crashed and burned, and this is giving me new hope. I've been watching a lot of your videos. Also plan to join MIA.
Trying to download the files suggested here, but two problems. I should start by saying I have a Mac. I may just be screwing up--as a 51 year old, I'm probably an eternal luddite on some level. Anyway, I cannot get the Low-Key Anki files to upload onto Anki. I've downloaded the zip file about five times to make sure it downloaded correctly. Everything shows that in fact I've moved the files from down-load to Anki, but no matter how many times I go through this process, when I shut Anki down and then open it up again, it never ends up on the list of add-ons. Also, something is going wrong even with the MIA dictionary. It does show up as an add-on, but I get a long notice when I re-open Anki that it failed to load. Zero idea what I'm doing wrong here. I downloaded the older version of Anki, as per instructions. I'm using a MacBook Pro. I'd appreciate any suggestions (other than "get a PC" lol).

hey, got a question. Lets say I add a premade to anki which is located initially on the desktop. What happens if later I delete the deck file from the desktop but not from the anki itself? cause I added decks from several locations on my pc
