I trust this penguin more than I ever trusted any textbook

"If you use it correctly" is key. Because you can easily fall into burning all your time into an Anki death spiral, which would be better spent with gaining input.

Thank you for actually talking about WHERE to get words. Too many ppl say "just immerse."

It always ticks me off when ppl are too vague.

You have no idea how handy your videos are. I’m taking Japanese in college and I noticed it’s not actually set up so you actually learn the language. I’m going to try your methods. Keep up the great videos!

I've been studying Japanese for 4 years but I haven't made much progress. I wanted to try immersion but didn't really know how. I recently discovered your channel and I think it's super useful, this video helped me a lot, tysm!

I use a lot of your methodologies to help me out. I'm a beginner so I'm starting with learning Hiragana so I can even read some stuff. The immersion method has definitely been helping and watching normal J-dramas has helped me pause and look up words so I slowly understand what's going on in context.

Keep up the good work, you are definitely helping folks like me.

Thank you for this, between this and the genki textbooks and the immersion/podcast table you've given me a solid basis to start learning. My great grandfather unfortunately swore off the language for my entire family after 9066 came down, so this is a huge and appreciated boon for me to revive and learn the language for the American side of my family

Thank you kind Penguin!
On behalf of my fellow learners can I just thank you for this in depth video and tutorial. I've stopped and started my studies so much because I struggled to get Anki to work for my needs and I don't tend to gel with other people's premade decks. Your video helped fix my confusion and multiple year battle with Anki.

Thank you so much, these videos are super useful. I feel like stressing over getting the right tools, applying the right method, etc, has stopped me from learning Japanese before. So your videos have been really helpful!

Thank you Trenton! I now feel ready to start my learning journey. I started listening to podcasts a couple days ago after listening to your "Learning Japanese isn't that hard" video, but I don't understand a single word right now. Hopefully I'll get one once in a while with my Anki deck setup.

Thanks a lot for the lenghty explanation and great video once again!
