This just goes to show what a country can do under a socialist economy . Even with the largest empire in the world resting its boot on Cuba’s neck they have survived . Try and do that with a capitalist country and will see if it survives a few years .

In regards to No.2: It has been said that OUTSIDE money (Cubans sending money to family, ) is what is keeping the "economy" afloat. I am certain that the Cuban economy has had zero real growth since the 70's, especially after 1991..

You guys forgot one important reason. The Embargo has given a justification to the Cuban government for the economic crisis and lack of resources in the island by blaming the embargo instead of the corruption and arbitrary choices they've made that has profoundly affected the Cuban people.
