This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Lexus TX 3-row luxury SUV.
The 2024 Lexus TX is a large 3-row SUV with ample space for passengers. It has a long wheelbase of 116.1” which is the same as the new Toyota Grand Highlander, however, it is 2” longer than the Toyota. There is a key difference between this and the Grand Highlander, the Toyota is a 7-8 passenger SUV, the TX 6-7 passengers. If you need to haul more people, you may find the Toyota to be the better option.
There isn’t a lot of competition in the luxury 3-row SUV category offering this much space and three different powertrain options including a performance hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Here’s a breakdown of the models.
The 2024 Lexus TX 350 has a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder, 8-speed automatic transmission, 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options in the US.
The 2024 Lexus TX 500h, a 2.4L turbocharged hybrid powertrain with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 366 horsepower and standard DIRECT4 AWD.
The 2024 Lexus TX 550h+ with a 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain, it’s matched to a CVT and has a combined 404 horsepower. It gets an EV range of 53 km/33 miles.
For those wanting a large family hauler in the premium/luxury category the 2024 Lexus TX is tough to beat. It’s spacious offering plenty of first, second and third row legroom. Space behind the third row is also very good which is hard to come by in this segment.
If you compare the 2024 Lexus TX to the Acura MDX which is another leader for space in the 3-row category, the2024 Lexus TX has about the same amount of front row legroom but an inch more in the second row and 4” more in the third row. The TX has more overall cargo space but also more space behind the second and third rows.
The2024 Lexus TX 350 and 500h models are on sale now, the TX 550h+ will be available at a later date. The TX is built at the US Indiana plant.
In the US, the TX 350 FWD model starts at $55,050 USD/AWD $56,650 USD, TX 350 Premium FWD $58,450 USD/AWD $60,050 USD, TX 350 Luxury FWD $60,950 USD/AWD $62,550 USD, TX 500h F Sport Performance Premium AWD $69,350 USD and TX 500h F Sport Performance Luxury AWD $72,650 USD.

We got the GH Hybrid Max Platinum last month and started wondering if we should have waited for the TX550h. Not really - especially because of the 'options' that need to be added on even on the Luxury 550h (like the tech package for panoramic monitor etc) and what comes standard on the GH Platinum. That brings the price close to 76k! That's a ~$16k difference for comparable model and features!

Thank you, thank you, for including measurements for leg room. I have asked a number of channels for this but you’re the only one who started including it. Your videos have always been good - I watch till the end every time - but the two of you have really improved the product in the last year or so. I appreciate your professionalism and the fact you’ve done it without changing your authentic humor and affection for each other. You’ll never be duplicated/copied. Thank you also for catering to USA viewers with measurements, trim offerings, etc.

I was so excited that you used my question on this review. You definitely helped me shed some light on my decision. Thank you two for all that your doing. Best channel ever!

Lexus does one thing better than any other car company, service! Highly reliable, premium quality and service unmatched with your own advisor for the maintenance help if needed! While the quality gap has narrowed in the last 20 years no one has come close to service aspect and that is why lots of customers in the 50 plus bracket lease them on regular basis!!

It’s smart to have a large vehicle hybrid that gives good mpg. It probably stopped many people from getting big vehicle in the past because of terrible mpg

I agree with you the second row should be have option Captain chair or bench seat in the F sport model hybrid. People buy a large SUV for carry more people and want more power too.

Nice review, I bet it will be quite a wait for we, in Atlantic Canada, to obtain a TX! Guess we will keep the Aviator for awhile as it's been flawless so far.

good camera work for interior, I have an option about the review of trim levels it’s becoming like listening to a chart or spreadsheet. You know when someone presents a PowerPoint and the just read what on the slide. I can read a chart, rather hear about how the sound level is, ac/heat effectiveness, and what you already do which is how the drive and suspension is.

I like the car, it is a suv but some how reminds me of a bog estate. It is well build, and nice materials. Will consider this car as next car...

Haha I love the way andrea nails that when she gets in the vehicle. 😊

I’m leaning toward not digging the front trapezoidal grill treatment. From an exterior styling treatment, I prefer the Aviator, MDX and some Bimmers. However, Lexus reliability, interiors and power train options are not to be dismissed.

Great review as always. On top of comparing the TX to the Grand Highlander, it would also be interesting to see the TX vs Sienna for the people/cargo hauling capability.

I sat in both the Grand Highlander and the Lexus TX yesterday, and I honestly didn’t see any added luxury/benefit to the Lexus TX vs the Grand Highlander. In fact, the Toyota looked a bit better, honestly. Both give soccer mom minivan type vibes.
