This episode reminds me of the final days of a school year, when you're just killing time before breaking up for summer.

I like how Spiers went through the war with utter fearlessness only to jump at the cork being popped -- now that the war is practically over I think it's dawning on him that he's actually going to make it through in one piece. And so the idea of stopping a bullet at this very late stage is making him (finally) wary.

2:57 A small detail but very important. O'Keefe is a new replacement, been with the company only a couple weeks. By this point, Winters hasn't served as Easy Company's direct CO for almost half a year, yet he knows every single one of his soldiers by name, even the new ones. That's how you can tell he cares about his men.

They say Nixon's liver grew three sizes that day.

Not many things say “you’ve lost a war” more than having the enemy partying in your vacation mountain retreat, drinking your wine, shitting in your toilet, and stealing your belongings.

"And the man was afraid of heights" - I lost it at this part.

Sobel would have never let his men hug him like that.
Winters is awesome.

I’ve been to the Eagle’s Nest. It is quite an experience. You can see the chunks taken out of the fireplace marble by the US soldiers.

The extreme amounts of heavy breathing; semi priceless.

Find you someone that looks at you the way Nix looks at Goehring's hooch stash

Richard winters was remarkable in military and civilian life. Just a remarkable man.

Speirs freaking out (as much as the man can) at the champagne cork never fails to amuse me

"Welsh: Hey, Adolf. Love your Eagle's Nest. I hope you don't mind, we, we made ourselves at home. Love what you've done with the place ..."

Of all the soldiers in this mini series, I liked Lewis Nixon 's character the best. He came from a wealthy family, probably could have gotten a deferment, but joined the Army anyway

Nixon never fired his weapon in combat, but he was one of the few that completed three combat drops; Normandy, Market-Garden and Varsity. So he had three jump stars on his wings.

I have been inside the Kehlsteinhaus on many occasions. This set in the programme has been faithfully recreated.

I can only dream how it must have felt for those men to have survived and to spend their last time together in such a climatic way. Talk about the ups and downs of war.
