Many are familiar with the book and series "Band of Brothers". But what of Easy Company is myth and what is reality? In this episode, we're tackling what may be the most misattributed photo of Easy Company that claims to be the men celebrating the end of the war at the Eagle's Nest. And we're also bringing an item from The Gettysburg Museum of History back to where it was likely used in May of 1945.

It shocks me that this channel doesn’t have more subscribers. Amazing storytelling combined with visiting the actual places. Amazing job guys! Keep it up

Absolutely fantastic! I am so glad you covered this because I was wondering about that photo and whether you would talk about it. I can't say enough how awesome it is for you to be involved with Erik and the museum. For a history buff like me, it's so awesome to see these places through your lens. When you cut to Erik holding Dick Winter's shirt in that spot, chills went down my spine! What an amazing moment! Well done JD!

The historical importance of these photos can't be overemphasized. To compare what I'm sure those soldiers thought was just an ordinary thing to the changes that have happened at those sites over the years is priceless. A true glimpse back into a tiny slice (probably 1/60th of a second in shutter speed) of history. It proves the timelessness of a quote from author Edward Abby: " Our job is to record, each in his own way, this world of light and shadow and time that will never come again exactly as it is today." You have done just that, JD and Eric, in these videos. Thank you for preserving these historical moments!

BoB was amazing. On UK TV it was broadcast and then repeated a few days later. I watched both. Then bought the DVD boxset and Steven Ambrose's superb book. It is now really interesting to see you bring the locations to life. Thank you for your excellent content

Sometimes I catch myself randomly thinking about how lucky your students are to have you as their teacher, and how different my life might have been had I had a teacher who was this passionate about history. Amazing video, as always! Thank you for making learning fun.

Back 80 years ago, black and white photos were still common place. I don't think anyone who mislabeled this photo did so intentionally. I think at the time as these photos were being shared, copied, reproduced, etc and the various news outlets, businesses, people, organizations, etc came across these photos, the were labeled as best as they could. Love these WW2 videos. I sit here and wonder where you're going next. There is a gentleman, a French Doctor that has a channel, Crocodile Tears that goes and helps to reclaim soldiers remains and when possible, he finds their next of kin. The entire process is amazing to me and he shares a lot of history and historical documents. Even relics he uses to track down the family of these missing solders. He is very very knowledgeable on WW2, Russia, German, etc. I wonder if you and him could do a collab. His channel is amazing. I also wonder if you will dive into WW1 as the next series you cover. I imagine that at some point, the channel might find you on the battlefield of Verdun or Flanders, or, The Somme. I know you have interest in WW1 as you were just recently at the WW1 Memorial / Museum here in Kansas City. I live 10 mins from that monument, park and museum. BTW, I've been trying to get access for you to a private very very large collection of WW2 memorabilia / relics from a retired Doctor here in Kansas City. He is actually from Olathe, I think that's safe for me to mention. I mentioned to him, you and your channel a few times and he never shut me down, he just said he was worried about the publicity it would bring to him. I've only been to his main warehouse where one of the collections are kept but from what I saw, It's the size of a small grocery store, like an older Safeway. He mentioned that he has over 200, 000 items in his collection. He said he started collecting in the early 60's right out of High School. He just turned 81 or 82. Thank you for the videos! Can't see where the channel goes next.
