Yes that’s a great way to take care of the larvae, I’m a mosquito tech, and we actually use mosquito fish along with other chemicals to control breeding in our county

We have them in India as well. Named the same as well called gappi and we release them in ponds and stagnant lakes or reservoirs

I worked so hard to scape my aquarium and forgot the water movement so mosquito larvae came. My anger overtook me and killed it. Now it is hard to find, making it hard to clean😭

Edit: Nvm they ate it🥲

Great idea! But did the fish remain alive when you put them back in their tank? I know how fragile guppies can be

Thank you and your fish for your service to humanity!

Friendly tip: One teaspoon of water can breed 100 mosquitos.

So check your yard and anything that holds water ESPECIALLY old tires. You need to empty them out because if you have a mosquito problem. Chances are they are breeding in some old bucket or tire and alot of species stay close to home. IE your yard.

Also. Minnows are your best friends against mosquitos.

If you can capture a bunch of minnows then you can release them into ponds and other things that hold water all year around.

Minnows eat mosquito larva. Remember that.

I really feel like thats a bad idea in the context of the fish's health.

I use to always use a net to catch them and feet it to my fishes.

Easy solution given the tools were at hand hehe, well played.
How do you manage the still water though?

The same thing happened to my plants few years ago. I plopped my 5 goldfish in there. I also plopped in my betta. In just an hour, the millions of larvae was decreased to single digit population

How did you acclimate the fish to that water before putting them in?

Or, are they a really hardy fish?
