I hate to have social media nowadays but I absolutely have to be on them for business purposes, man are people quick with their fingers when in face to face that would instantly get you knocked tf out. Generation X says stop watching people live start living yourself. I grew up in a time where none of this was around and we lived our lives, talking to each other working things out face-to-face. I don’t have any of those apps. They’re all selfish to me. I look at it as a window to insane asylum.

Brilliant observation. I’ve thought for a long time now that one big problem with social media is that essentially it gives access to people and their opinions and advice without the burden of care for the person viewing and absorbing that opinion or advice. When I was young if I wanted to know something I had to ask an adult or read it in a book. The adult I would ask would usually be a person who had some vested interest in my development or at least not want me to come to harm. Now the person who gives a young person advice or sets an example is most likely someone who has no interest in the development of that person or their wellbeing or worse someone who wants to bring others into a nihilistic helpless view of the world. I thought of this after a became a father and wondered if I would let my child use social media. I don’t think I will.
