Naruto is a good father. I dont get how people think hes not. You can clearly see at the pictures where himawari and boruto were young that naruto loves them a lot. The strained relationship between naruto and boruto was probably because boruto hated him for not being home. Because if naruto stopped trying then why can he approach himawari and kawaki easily but not boruto? Its because boruto kept him at arms length and naruto was afraid he'd make it worst by reaching out (he tried before didnt he? That did not go well) naruto is an easy loving character, but hes insecure about himself since he doesnt know how to be a father since he grow up with none.

Himawari made it easy because she shows appreciation to his efforts. Kawaki also made it easy for him since he knows kawaki's pain, had gone through it and reminds him of himself. But he doesnt understand boruto because he didnt grow up hating his parents for not being there for him. He grew up appreciating every person in his life so he doesnt know how to deal with it. Knowing naruto, hes probably waiting for boruto to reach out first so he can reach out without damaging their relationship more.
