I used to have a TS//SCI clearance while in the Army. We were constantly trained on how to handle classified information and what the potential punishment(s) could be for mishandling it. What Trump has allegedly done in this case is far beyond gross negligence. If true, this is a clear violation of the espionage act and could have absolutely put lives at risk. It’s sickening. Any service member committing the same crime(s) as Trump would be facing federal prison.

There’s no excuse for this behavior. None. In addition to being sent to prison if convicted, Trump should also be immediately barred from ever holding any position requiring a security clearance for the rest of his life. Period.

This is not normal and this is not acceptable.

An important thing to note how important this is:
One of the most difficult things to prove for a prosecutor is the mental state of the defendant. Did they have intent? Did they know what they were doing was illegal?
This would go a long way to proving Trumps intentions and knowledge.
