I'm a roblox developer and I work with people around the word making games, assets, products in general, that changed my life. It's so curious how you can be part of a team with people from Europe, America, Asia and talk about something in common, make a game.
The developer community is bigger every single day, and the best thing is that you don't have to be a rich businessman to start a game, you don't have to study a career to work in roblox, you just have to be constant and creative.

Roblox is genuinely a good game, but you have to find the sub-communities/smaller games not catered towards little kids. There is genuinely some good stuff on there.

Who's here trying to understand the younger generation?

I grew up playing Roblox over my home phone with friends. Now, I'm old enough to invest in their stock. I've always understood the appeal. It's more of an game engine for creatives at this point than a game in itself. Game profit comes through the creatives who develop these games, and in-app purchases within their games. In addition to cosmetics such as the Gucci bag, it's obtained using Robux, the online currency. Robux can be exchanged back into US dollars at a lesser rate than you could buy them for on Roblox's store. If the game you developed ends up on the front page of Roblox and you get a lot of in-game transactions, you could be making a lot of money as a *Roblox game developer.* I've heard numbers in the 7 digits for annual income on top games.

Roblox seems like the youtube platform creator equivalent for games. It such a fascinating idea because they don't have to spend research and development into creating games, the users create them!

My full-time job is making games on Roblox! I'm 19 and I've been on the platform since 2012. My most popular game is Obby Creator which has been visited around 100 million times. One of my other games has been visited around 70 million times so I'm getting close to the 200 million mark!

I’m a content creator for Roblox as well. It really is crazy to think about how many creators make more than 6 figures with Roblox content (there are many ways to monetize on the Roblox platform itself) 🤣

My friends kids are super into this game. They deliver virtual pizza to get money to design homes. They go to virtual parties to get food so their characters can eat without spending money.

They spend a lot of time talking to people in the game building stuff or whatever.

Seems to me one of the most important parts of how this game works is how they curate a safe space for kids. There are all kind of guard rails in place. Maybe y'all wrote about that on Public or whatever?

Crazy to see Roblox getting so big a remember playing it 10+ years ago when I was 13. But if you have access to VR you have to try population one. It's fortnite in VR and Facebook bought them today!
