New York is decreasing the quality of life for it's residents.

Live in Chicago. West Loop, South Loop, Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, etc. Life is so great here. Please don’t believe the media. Born and raised here. Chicago is a beautiful city.

I lived in NYC for 62 years. I disliked it most of those years, but I had a career in the NYC subways and didn't want to commute. So when I retired I took 2 years to get back to normal and find a place to live, and left. I'm in a small town in the western part of NY state now. I bought a house cash and live debt free. Housing is reasonable here, I have a 3 bedroom, 3 bath unattached house with a garage and a half acre property. My closest neighbor is 200' from me. I live on a dead end street in a town that has everything I need close enough to walk to, and open space a 3 minute drive away. It's safe here, clean, quiet and most things are reasonable, except for food in stores. The cheaper things make that expense nothing. My pension allows me to live a normal life here, I don't watch pennies like I did in NYC. NYC is a good place to work, but not to retire. I'm glad I left, and I am not going back. I forgot to mention, that wherever you go, no matter what time of day, you can drive the speed limit because traffic is very light here.

I have a real issue with the lack of affordable housing in New York. I pay $700 per month for a brand new, 2, 000 sq. ft., 4 bedroom home with spacious front and back yard areas, in Texas. To see people struggling to pay for a matchbox is heartbreaking. Furthermore, personal space trumps proximity to social activities, for me. Had I resided in New York, I wouldn't have been able to retire early at 41.

New York is definitely not the same anymore. I had moved to the Carolina and had to return to New York to help my mother. Planning my leave again. A city that put you in anxiety. And with all going on. Very toxic

Many women with businesses are realizing how important it is to grow your own platform over chasing glamorized industries. I left the industry in LA to prosper myself too. We shouldn’t have to chose between the two but since we did ✌🏾

I'm leaving NY too, covid has destroyed the city & NY will never be the same. You can't tell the homeless nothing, u can't tell the rats nothing & I'm over it.🤷🏾‍♀️

Congrats!! I moved to Florida from Illinois, and while there are obvious drawbacks, peace of mind is worth more!

I was born and raised in NYC (Staten Island) and lived in Lower Manhattan for the last 12 years. This city is freaking dead and lost all of its soul. de Blasio and the Governor have absolutely ruined the city. It is definitely not worth the premium to live here anymore. I am moving to Miami this week and not looking back.

She’s spot on .New York, was great in the ‘80s and ‘90s. I’m 43, and it used to be fun.Even in 2000 to ‘05, it was cool. After that it was a wrap

I was born and raised in Manhattan and I miss the NYC of old. Not this gentrified, over expensive, crime ridden, dirty city with a horrible Mayor like Diblasio. I do not for one minute, blame you for leaving the city. I will always miss MY NYC. Not this NYC now.

I agree with you! I’m 36 and have been living in NYC for 28 years and I’m moving on Wednesday. I refuse to get vaccinated so I can’t do anything so I’m leaving. Trust me, I completely understand where you’re coming from! Congratulations on your candle business!

I Want to move out of NYC so bad. I’ve been living here my whole life, I’m over it lol. 2 years ago I had the chance to move to Minneapolis and I decided not to take that offer🤦🏾‍♀️. Now I’m extremely motivated to leave this city

This is a super interesting, well put together video and take on this topic. I’ve been considering moving to New York in the back of my mind for a while now, just because it’s New York and for the new experiences and that journey like you mentioned. I’ve been filling my brain with all the positives, but I know it’s just as important to take in the negatives as well. All things to consider. Thanks for this input! And congrats on having the courage to leave 😌

Girl, I know I'm late af to this video, but it resonates so much! I'm in exactly the same place - 25, grew up near London, went to uni there, and had a great couple of years there afterwards.

I always envisioned myself staying here. But now, prices have gone through the roof. It was always expensive, but now it's a different level, and it's just not worth it to me anymore.

I support you black queen. I completely understand your thoughts. Being from Louisiana, it is safe to say that home(wherever home is to you) can be a burden. Getting out of your hometown can be a release and I soon plan to start my own journey. NYC here we come lol

Congratulations! New York City is overrated and it's just going downhill. I hope I too can leave one day and start fresh somewhere less expensive and restrictive. I pray you flourish in Florida!

Single guys and gals with no kids can do that, but I know folks with some kids and a spouse. And it's hard for them to leave NYC. Happy to hear you will able to leave NYC.

Being a native New Yorker I seen New York City go through many changes. In the 70's Nyc was filthy and through out the 80's and 90's was cleaned up. Times Square was once full of porn theaters and prostitutes, disgusting. New York definitely has its ups and down but will always swings back up.
