I am trying to escape NYC after 25 years and am absolutely shocked at how overpriced everything is even in the dumpy areas way way way out from NYC. There is no cheap area to go to. People keep saying "move somewhere else" but I cannot find anywhere remotely affordable, even if it's under an airport 100 miles away. Way worse than people who haven't been looking know

From a native New Yorker: (1) Avoid certain neighborthoods that have a high crime rate, (2) make AT LEAST a six figure salary per year or have side investments, & (3) DON'T be poor/low income. Those are THE THREE rules for living in New York.

My dad finally visited me. I got to take him around my favorite places in the city and where I live. His experience of the people here was vastly better than what the media spewed at him. It was an awesome reunion!

I've lived in NY all of my life. That being said, I have never seen crime and mental health issues so bad on the subways. It used to be that you would hear about terrible shootings/stabbings happening at 3am in very isolated areas. Now they happen all the time at 4pm in midtown.

Although moved back recently, this is home no matter where I've been. Every place has pros & cons, just a ? of what routine you have and be safe in all you do 👍🏽

Thank you so much for your clearheaded response to the crime issue in nyc. So many "new york youtubers" have either moved away or turned their channels into panic magnets. I was relieved to hear you break it down the way you did.

I lived in NYC for 25-years, only leaving during the Mexican Beer Sickness insanity. While business is down, rents are still insanely high, and if you haven't had your rent increased in 3-years as you said, you're either on rent control or won the lottery with your landlord. I'm a big boy so I never worried about the crime, but when all my favorite restaurants were forced out of business I finally decided to leave, and I'm glad I did. But while I agree that some of the bad press about NYC is exaggerated, I didn't hear anything from you regarding the illegal immigrant crisis, and from what I can see from the hundreds of videos, IT IS A FULL-BLOWN CRISIS. So what do you have to say about that??

I just returned from a trip to NYC with my aunt and sister. Not once did we ever feel in danger or scared. It seemed very safe to us. We did a few things that you have mentioned to do while visiting and really enjoyed them! Thanks for the tips!!

YOU ARE RIGHT! News are always highlighted the more sensational. I am in LA, and the homeless are in lot of places but still millions of people live here and aren't leaving.

Your take on the crime situation was so level headed. Hopefully it gives people some clarity, and eases their fear when they visit. This was a great video!

A MASSIVE thanks, I was worried about bringing my children to NYC because of the crime, but the way you put it about, its a thing everyone is just jumping on just to make some money and its not really as bad as its being made out has relaxed me considerably.

I have just come back from a family holiday to NYC and it was fabulous. It was expensive to eat out, but so is London. We felt safe, NY was reasonably clean, vibrant, lots to do and see. We had five days and crammed loads into all of them. Loved our stay ❤

Thank You for this video! I watch other NY YouTubers and the drift into negativity is real and obvious. I refuse to click on these trolls. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos. Your presentation and delivery combined with the videography is excellent.

Last summer my 12yr old daughter and I spent 8 days in NYC and stayed in 4 locations: Financial area, Time Square, Chelsea and Greenpoint Brooklyn. Before leaving we were told to avoid eye contact with New Yorkers, don’t do this or that, avoid the Subway at all costs, don’t walk anywhere, etc…

Happy to say I didn’t want to leave NYC and would happily return. I was so glad I made eye contact with a Mets fan on the subway en route to the Yankees game. He was awesome to talk with and got the whole car going! I’m so glad we felt safe enough walking around all the areas we went to and what hours we did. We loved the city and the people. I would love to come back. Only wish we’d gone to Jackson Heights otherwise a perfect trip!

And we did the Staten Island ferry for the statue at sunset and it was perfect and free!!!

I have been watching your videos ever since I booked my trip in November, I arrive in a couple of weeks and after seeing so many negative videos about NYC it made me start to worry but this channel always gets my excitement back for my trip. Truly the best NYC tourism YouTuber out there

I’m arriving this Wednesday, April 17. I’m traveling by myself, first time ever in New York City let alone the East Coast… I’ve been using your videos as a reference since January and this has made me feel much safer.

Even the elevated post-pandemic crime level is nothing compared to the NYC I grew up in during the 1980s and early 90s. Media hype is a real thing.

Every city has issues, some more than others, but by and large, NYC is extremely safe. I've lived there, admittedly pre-covid, but loved it. It is such a diverse city. Want to go to the beach? Hop on the subway and head to Coney Island or the Rockaways. Want to go to Connecticut or Long Island? Take the train. Want to visit the grave of Alexander Hamilton? Trinity church is where it's at. A beautiful park that doesn't feel like it's in a major city? Central Park is where it's at, even on a gloomy, rainy day. Take the subway, walk, and just get out and explore.
