My Honest Review of the Destiny Rising Alpha

After playing the Destiny Rising Alpha for quite awhile this weekend, today I wanted to share my honest review of how this Alpha test went. There was some good things here, some bad and honestly some pretty surprising things.

Ikora being only explosives is wack since everytime we see her in game and lore she has a shotgun due to her aggressive tactics.

The thing I like the most about this game is that the perks actually tell you exactly what they do. There's no hiding behind a paraphrase or small paragraph: they give you the exact numbers, the exact percentages, of what the weapons and their perks do. There's no need for a community-driven Compendium to figure it out.

The people who have never played gacha, and if destiny rising is your first. Control yourself or you'll just get baited and fished for your money.

Clan housing, socketable rarity based mods, sparrow racing, player trading, a new actually rare weapon rarity, decent continuity with Kabr and Jolder's design, even an interesting and wide cast of characters with fresh takes on the current destiny setting like Sentinels and set in one of the most interesting eras of lore, and all free to play at launch... jeez man an eastern dev company with arguably a worse PR than Bungie actually made their alpha look better than either Destiny vanilla release

It's just "fresh" Destiny. This basically confirms that players are right and know what they want and Bungie refuses to listen to them. A mobile game releases with all the features that D2 players have been begging for for years and people like it? What a shocker. I feel like you all will enjoy this for a couple of weeks/months, but then as soon as the blatant pay 2 win that comes in every NetEase game rears its ugly head, especially in pvp, you'll be right back to complaining.

Filled out the alpha feedback survey earlier today, and like, 90% of the questions were some form of "would you like a PC port".

I was saying to chat yesterday. The more I play the more I get invested. Not cuz it's blowing my mind but because it's a "NEW" destiny experience. Playing d2 for the last 7 years is getting old

The painful part is how much better NetEase is at designing features compared to Bungie.

We're still on the seasonal model renamed to episodes or whatever, where the hell are our Clan Bases and Mythic weapons? There's more core activities in that mobile game than D2!

I've seen people over the years saying they wished Bungie did content set in the historical Warlord Age and Dark Age (Twilight Gap etc), now it'd look stupid if they did it, because NetEase did it first.

I have no doubt that once the monetization is added, this will be a gacha hell nightmare. But there is no denying that it definitely feels like it was made by Destiny fans. From day one fireteam finder, to all the "deep" lore pulls, hell this game has SPARROW RACING, something we have begged to return for years. I think if this game had a much more relaxed monetization system and was like $10 I actually think most Destiny fans would love this just because what's actually here, even in its alpha state, is rock solid and in some areas kind of just impressive.

Just an update to the video. There is a "raid" activity as of today. Each level of it has its own exotic and has mechanics you have to communicate. Oh and there's sparrow racing.

It's so true, I want more Destiny! Mythic tier engrams, New Subclass, Supers, Fragments, Aspects, Abilities! New Exotics Dual wielding pistols, Swords. A Heavy parry shield. Exotic Reworks. Better Core playlist, New adventure Strikes 2nd stage Boss fights, New PvP maps 2 floors, Gambit still has untapped potential. More Raids and Dungeons. Destinations with Patrol that isn't hollow, bring back the weather and day and night cycles that we had in D1! SRL Give us exploding D1 Raid sparrows.

I totally agree with you saying that it's almost a crime that this is a mobile game first. I managed to get my configs on Bluestacks to work REALLY well with MnK that there was a point where I could swap weapons for DPS, jump around and throw my abilities, that I felt like I was playing D2. I was streaming this to my friends in discord and they said this looked like a PC ALPHA, NOT a Mobile Game Alpha, and I really think that speaks volumes to what this game could be in the future.

Speaking for/as someone who only ever plays mobile games, this game LEGIT has the potential to be one of the best mobile games ever made.

I have played the alpha test non-stop, done basically everything in the game right now, all adventures, a few characters, lots of weapons including exotics and mythics tiers, etc. I can say the game is great and it can be played NORMALLY without spending REAL money. But I agree with Cross here, this is the type of games where you have to grind the game and wait when you have to wait or; waste your hard earned money if you get addicted. However, the game has more than enough activities for you to grind all kind of resources, currencies, etc. with daily and weekly resets. Of course, the game give you the option ($$$) to keep getting more pinnacle loot (for example), but just play the game and be patient, done. I will play it when it comes out for sure. As a Lost Ark player myself, I didn't spent any money in the game and I was always in the end-game, so I consider myself with self-control for these type of games. Obviously I still have to try the game after released and the end-game... but we'll see.
