Thanks for this and no 30 second intro video, and harassing comments, like and subscribe, etc. Right to the point.

Thanks for the video! A lot of those places are pretty dang perfect for new players. I myself set up in the Park Ranger building across from the docks. The Huge lake had a wonderful view, although it was a pain to get to the trader from there.

If you are new to the game and playing solo those big POIs are hard to secure all the points of entry. Any of the houses with the stone wall around a back yard pool work great. Knock out the steps and a few walls on the second floor. You have a good sized, secure base.

I settled in the A frame cabin behind Trader Joel. Once you fill in the hole in the basement wall it makes for a manageable base. I use the bunker underneath the car wrecking lot in the burned forest south as a horde night base. Easy enough to clear out and you can set traps in the ramped corridor to cut down the horde numbers.

Regarding the first location mentioned, I used to frequently make a base out of the hardware store just a little East of Trader Jen. It's quite a serviceable structure and as you've mentioned, the area is great.

That Church on the edge of the burnt & forest biome, is wonderful. The entire outside ot the building is concrete for the first 2 blocks, and the entire floor inside is filled with 2 blocks high wood. It's super secure, right out of the box. After you break that little rear porch, zombies "always" go around to come in the front door. You can make the entry way into a hatch-hall, and easily add an electric wire trap across it. It's not hard to make it rock solid as a horde 'and' home base until GS 100 (I'd build something more elaborate for Demos though). It's central between a bunch of different roadways, major intersections, biomes, towns, and traders, with Jen being the closest, and it's near-ish to the middle of the map. And if you light it carefully, it's proper creepy looking.

That last base? I dont build there, but I DID use that exact same house inside a town on random gen. Its a big poi to take over, but its crammed full of loot like books and schematics on all the shelves, as well as plenty of food and drink for your first night, and the attic space is HUGE! You could support a 6 man team in that attic space and have plenty of elbow room. 10/10 I highly recommend it for players with a bit of experience under their belts. I ended up leaving that house with like 3k dukes worth of loot. It was so crazy i actually built a storage crate twice while clearing it just to hold everything.

Can't believe you missed the pre-built bunker that's in the burnt forest at 505 S, 1359 W. It's an amazing place to start off as long as you can tolerate beating your way through the vault door in the entrance.

Ranger's stations. I like the one near trader Joel's and the one that's in the desert biome in the city. Water in the park, throw up a wall around them. The one in the desert biome has a massive garage for vehicles (With a little demo work of the broken car lifts and floor replacement. Basement, kitchen built in, crafting area right next to the garage, upper area you can use for storage, roof access.

Built on a bridge and make a horde base nearby. We've built horde bases that function so well, the first 3 horde nights we literally sat and watched the base kill everything. After that, each subsequent horde base has require more effort from us to deal with the zombies...

I usually pick the middle of an intersection on flat ground. Gives you two sides of solid pavement zombies can't dig under. I never use an existing POI anymore - buggy spawns will pop inside sometimes. But really it's all the same no matter where - do it on flat as possible ground. Never build on a hill or you get undermined. Never build on sand or snow or you get undermined.

Did anyone else catch the Neebs Gaming reference he made at the Journeys end location? Love it!

The Boobie Trap was a great POI when I started playing in Alpha 19. Sadly, it was removed in Alpha 20. If it returns, I will definitely base/horde there again, assuming it has the same layout.

I usually build my base in the Pass-n-gas station, its near a pretty big town which has a hospital, its near a farm, near a trader and near water.

I'm a suckered for gas station bases. Quick and easy to set up at, not to big to defend, multiple levels to build off of, and can initiate a kill tunnel in several ways into the stock layout of gas and sips.

I usually set up in the top right of the first trader up in the mountains it’s a tower quite easy to fortify for hordes it’s pretty efficient so far until day 31

Snow and desert are a big no. The ground is way too soft and you end up filling up zombie holes all the time.
Right next to trader Jen's place -- used to be a Church there. Nice big flat spot. You're close to the middle of the map -- really anywhere close to the middle is optimal - you can get to everything in a day from the middle of the map.

Wonder if these will carry over when 20 comes out...
