Everything leads to Hammerfell.

Fan Fact,
The Ebony Warrior is one of the few npcs that can actually survive from Fall Damage.😅

I don't know why no one ever mentions the fact that children of mixed race couples are the race of their mother.
That opens up a lot of possibilities for who the Ebony Warrior can be and explain why he wants to get into Sovngarde. He could be the bastard son of the former high king or Ulfric or any other notable Nord who had a Redguard mistress. He would look like a Redguard but be his father's son, so to speak, and of course have daddy issues driving his progress and desire to meet his father in Sovngarde. That last idea is why I particularly like the idea that he is the son of Torygg, the last High King of Skyrim.

Dont agree with the subconscious theory. Why would the Ebony Warrior always be a Redguard man no matter the gender & race of the Dragonborn?
I think he's basically the answer to where the next Elder Scrolls game is going to be set in. Hammerfell.

Bet there'll be an easter egg for the E.Warrior where your character can meets an elderly Nord man or woman that mentions their son that left for Skyrim in his ebony armor.

The redguard setting was for the race perk, it’s just a developer created character maxed out and implemented into the game as a boss.

I believe the Ebony Warrior is the player. Think of him as another character you made, since I think most people don't only make one character in Skyrim. He's basically just another character of yours who reached max level, coming to challenge your current character when they also became strong enough. I think it's a bit similar to the case of Skyrim's Sheogorath. If you played the Oblivion DLC Shivering Isles, you know that in the end of the questline (spoilers) your character becomes Sheogorath. So from a certain point of view, in Skyrim you basically meet "your previous character" from Oblivion, when you're doing Sheogorath's quest. This is how I see the Ebony Warrior too.

I would have to contend that the strangest character in Skyrim is clearly the player.

Ok

Hear me out

What if he’s just some *really* strong dude.

That’s it, that’s my theory. He’s just some guy who’s gotten so strong that he can’t die an honorable death unless killed by the Dragonborn

“Oh, but he’s a Redguard, he can’t go to Sovngarde!” He’s following Nord tradition, is he not? He may have the body of a Redguard, but he still has the heart of a Nord. At his core, he *is* a Nord, regardless of blood.

They should have made the Ebony Warrior a clone of yourself

So we're Dragonborn, Ysmir etc etc
We saved Skyrim from itself and world from Alduin

He (could be) Hunding
He saved Hammerfell from itself, from the Dominion(Which is why the chads manage by themselves now) and probably also a whole different cosmic catastrophe...

And his journey ran parallel to ours only elsewhere.

I like that idea

He's got a camp in the northern foothills, but I've always found it vacant.

That last theory does make a ton of sense

Throughout the series, the player character slowly becomes bored and sometimes tired as you level up

Something that didn't show up in skyrim was the level up blurbs that would appear once you rested.

In the other games, the character usually starts off at level 2 as all excited and wide eyed to the world around them.

But once you reached higher and higher levels the blurbs become contentful and lackluster with the thought of just dying from a mistake or that they are already the best and miss having something challenging yet they still try to find one.

The Ebony Warrior IS the Dragonborn. He is either a manifestation of consciousness like you said, or he is the next game (or previous) main character. In any way you slice it, the Ebony Warrior is the Dragonborn’s equivalent.

Or it could be the ultimate plot twist in ES6 where that player is the ebony warrior and a plot point is that you have to journey to Skyrim to fight the rumored Dovakin and have him send you to Sovengard to acquire an Elders scroll that is needed for the evil aloof in

What if he was just a Redguard who was born and raised in Skyrim by the nords which caused him to believe in sovengarde instead of the far shores. Because well just cause you are a race dosen't neccasarily mean you have to be apart of their culture. :)

Ironically, the only time I got to level 80, I didn't even get to land a single hit on him, because Kaidan got to him first 😅

You know what, I insta liked at the 3d second just because of your choice in background music. Kudos!

Given his size, I like to think he's a descendant of Lyris Titanborn and Sai Sahara and thus is a mix of Redguard, Nord, and Giant ancestry. I know it's not canonical given that Skyrim came out first, but it's a fun headcanon.
