People really need to look at an anatomy book and see how the trap fibers run. They don't run horizontal. They run more vertical from neck to shoulder. Best form is isolated shrugs with weight in working trap extended away from the body.

what? No upper traps function is pretty straightforward, upward rotation of the scapula, if you lean forward you get involved also middle traps because you have to also retract the scapula, if you want to do it it’s ok but you won’t get bigger upper traps by doing this

I got injured while doing this so wont recommend i got injury at base of neck by leaning forward

The problem with leaning forward is the pressure on the lower back.
I would not recommend leaning forward with heavy dumbbells in hand
