Giant chin abscess follow up! Was it all caused by a HAIR!? See the interesting dissection here!

This is his one month follow up and just like we planned the inflammation has resolved which allowed me to palpate and locate the exact location of the remaining remnants of cyst lining. You can see when I dissect the sac there is a thick firm hair at the bottom that was the likely cause of the entire scenario. So interesting to see this follow-up. Given how inflamed the tissue was surrounding the original abscess (ruptured cyst?), and then seeing the amount of scar tissue, it really looks like this will heal beautifully. As the stitches lie just on the cusp of where the chin draws back towards the neck, the resulting shadow should obscure any residual surface scaring (which looks to be minimal). I think your patient will be quite satisfied. Bravo to another well done procedure, Mr. Popzit!
