My favorite are people on Facebook marketplace who block out their license plate like you can't find out all you need to know from their profile.

I suppose it depends on what state you live in, but general rule of thumb is you should hide that information. They definitely can use it to search your information including address. It is public information, just like your social security number is public information, you just need to know how to obtain it. The social security CARD is a secure method to verify identity. Social security NUMBER is a terrible method of verifying identity.
But yeah, all this is publicly available information and can easily be tied to you through your post and then be hinted down.
The BIGGEST reason to hide the information is that someone could just file an anonymous report with your license plate number and have you arrested if say, you won't sell your vehicle for a price they like. Be smart out there 👍

There are license plate back search websites that track the title of every registered vehicle. It only costs around $25 each vehicle. It’s super easy with either plate number or vin code.

It's because people will inform the police with a description of your car and your license plate number, saying you did a hit and run, just threw someone in your trunk, did a drive by shooting or was involved in some type of crime, which will leave you and your vehicle being wanted by the police. Wether it be a prank or malicious intent.

It's like this, a DMV employee can put the car in their name that day, then go pretend they want to test drive it alone, then dtive off with the car, that seller can't report the car stolen as the car no longer belongs to the seller!

Lmao there use to be a site that would give you an address that the car was last registered to and the name of the owner I don't know if it's still active today but a very valid concern
