Woman Told to Cover Up for Wearing a Crop Top on Flight | This Morning

Yesterday, Thomas Cook Airlines issued an apology after threatening to throw one passenger off a flight to Tenerife, because staff branded her crop top inappropriate. 21-year-old Emily O’Connor - who describes the episode as the worst experience of her life - was wearing a pair of orange trousers and a black bralette when she was asked to cover up by staff. But, while she’s adamant there was nothing wrong with her choice of clothes - etiquette expert Liz Brewer argues that her outfit was indeed offensive, and says airlines are right to enforce a dress code. Both women join us in the studio to discuss.

I wouldn’t even bat an eye if someone got on a plane like this, it’s clearly a holiday outfit

First, it's a bra! Second, she held up the flight and could have caused others to miss a connecting flight or a car rental or whatever. (I have had flights connect that ended up being only about 10 minutes apart due to delays and almost missed my flight for my dad's funeral) Please make your point some other way, and put something on over your bra. It's not all about YOU when about 100 other people need to get where they paid to go.

Chose your battles wisely. She inconvenienced everyone and shd have just shut up and put on a jacket. What has she gained from the whole issue. Her entire argument was that SHE did not find it offensive. Does she say that at work or does she follow the dress code ?? What a narcissist.

Far too many people confuse public transport with their own private vehicle. If you're paying for a ticket you're not entitled to behave in a way that disregards the collective. Sitting in close proximity to someone else's bare skin is not desirable to most passengers.

Holly and Phil are being ridiculous in their comments that this girl should be able to wear whatever she wants in public. This is really a more specific argument: The entire point of this dilemma is that airlines have modesty/appropriate behavior policies and the flight crew deemed that she violated them. She was asked twice to put on a jacket, but she chose to be stubborn and inconvenience everyone on the plane to try and make a point. So self-centered 😮

I know modesty has all but disappeared in todays world but that is not a crop top in any stretch of the imagination. That is a glorified bra or bikini top.

I'm pretty liiberal, but seriously? wear a tank over my body, if i wore a similar outfit, you yourself would not want to see the view! they make rules for the GENERAL public and can't be choosing who is exempt, they hve tons of other things to do...therefore....cover up and take off the top when you get off!

I think the problem is that on flights you have to sit very close to other people. Not everyone would be comfortable sitting up close to someone so scantily clad.

Another one who thinks the world orbits her ego. It’s not about whether she’s dressed offensively - why is offensive the bar that needs to be met? Inappropriate for sure, being half dressed on a flight is as inappropriate as this outfit would be in a working office.

Shes ready to put a jacket on if its causing an offence- But shes not ready to cover up because its says so on a planes rules. She should cover up and follow the rule. She is rude and deserved to be removed.
