The Permian Panthers are initially overwhelmed by Carter's superior size but manage to mount a comeback in the second half.

This scene is so important to me. Even though the Carter Cowboys came out looking like NFL prospects ready to score a hundred points against them, when they're in the locker room, the helmets are off, the personas are dropped, they revert back to what they were before they strap on those pads: students. No matter how good those kids were, people seem to forget that these guys are just kids. Very well fed and gigantic kids but kids nonetheless lol

The state championship is a bi product of Hollywood creativeness. It was actually the state semi at the university of Texas the game was alot closer it was raining and there was bad blood between the two schools but all the dirty play cheep shots and late hits didn't happen.
