For the people who thinks this is abuse - No, this is helpful training. If there’s a stable fire and you need to get the horse out of there fast! If the horse is scared of fire them they will just run your right over!! But what if the horse is calm and not running you over?? You will get out of the stable calmly and with a calm horse.
And plus, at the end she gave the horse a pat!!

This is what my horse thinks I’m asking her to do when I’m telling her to cross a puddle

Props to the rider for not rushing or whipping the horse, keeping calm and patient is super important too

This is actually very useful training for all the people that say it’s abuse, bc say if there’s a fire at the stables, the horses won’t panic as much and they will get out quicker instead of coming out hurt, this could’ve been dangerous but most people don’t do this so well done❤

Edit:thanks for all of the likes
Edit 2: OMG MUM IM FAMOUS
Edit 3: 4K LIKES???

Not abuse, really important training. I’d just tie the tail up 🤷‍♀️

For people say “abuse” it’s not it’s a very important thing to teach your horse

I think this should be basic training. Fires are more common than you think and a horse that's able to keep a calm head during a fire is a safe horse.

Everyone's comment saying "for people who say this is abuse..." me looking for the comment that says it's abuse.

This is such amazing horsemanship! The way the young rider leads with confidence and love from the saddle! You go!❤

Definitely would advise they tie tail up in future.

I definitely wouldn’t encourage anyone who isn’t a professional doing this, because things could easily go wrong, but fire desensitisation can be useful if you live in areas prone to wildfires, or if horse is being trained for police/military work.
It’s always fun to test just how bombproof your horse/pony is, but when it comes to fire, leave it to experts….ones that insist on tails being secured away from flames and have fire extinguishers on hand at all times!

This is amazing, I would tie the tail up tho because we don't need a fire. I love how the rider is calm and makes sure the horse understand whats going on instead of whipping and kicking through it.

To those saying its abuse, why? Just curious

This is crucial training in this day and age. Especially for endurance/trail horses, not just to weather barn fires. Living in California and seeing the level of hell that can get going (a fire tornado is an actual thing... Like bruh.). Very good rider, both horse and young woman have confidence in each other.

I've known 2 horses who died because they ran back into the barn. This training may have helped.

This is so good for your horse! This is just like vacuuming around puppies or kittens. You just have to desensitize them so it's not a scary experience for your animal. It's not abuse, no animal was injured after all and future injuries from possible barn fires will be prevented

Just to mention - this exercise is set up to make sure the horse’s entire field of vision was covered in the flame (they can’t see in front or behind them well)
The horse probably couldn’t see the way out well, and trusted the riders commands! Literally walked through fire for her.
❤so much heart 💜
