THEORY: The only reason why Lars plays worse is because he wants to see his friends longer

-Just play it so we can go home.
-I don't wanna go home!

Please keep using 'The Thing That Should Not Be' intro. It just fits so perfectly

The intro of "The Thing That Should Not Be" has so much meme potential. 😂

Lars is a good guy. He purposely plays like shit just so he can be with his friends. Great guy.

Are you implying that Lars' bad drumming is a Thing That Should Not Be?

*Assisting Surgeon:* "You know, if we can perform this bypass carefully, the patient can go home tomorrow"
*Heart Surgeon Ulrich:* "But then we'll have an empty ward..."

Lars is the only drummer that openly complains about how drumming is hard.

It's different watching 3-hour long concert compared to excerpts of their live song video clips.
On those videos, it's easy to spot even the tiniest mistake. Hell, you can rewind them again and again until you pinpoint them.
During the concert, nobody gives a crap if there's drumming screw-ups here and there, or everywhere. We just enjoy the moment. It's hard to notice, either, especially with us singing along on top of our lungs. And maybe it's enough for the band, and the fans.
I always believe, there's nothing wrong with vibing with mediocrity. After all, it's just entertainment, at least for me, a pleb. When I step outside the stadium after MetallicA's concerts (I'm proudly say they come to Jakarta twice), I feel better than when I came in, and I called it a win.
Yea, I know it's different for those who embrace thrash metal as their religion, that attend concerts to worship the gods.

“Play it perfect and we can go home, ” is a pretty revealing line. Some (of the biggest) artists treat the studio like it’s a job, with a schedule. Others just live in it and operate without time. Both produce great results, but based on this band’s history it’s no surprise that they’re suits and ties in the booth.

LMAO the other engineer like: "OK, well, there goes my weekend with my spouse and children. It's a good thing they pay me well."
