Hungarian fencer Gergely Siklosi said he was "really proud" to help secure his country's second gold medal of the Paris Olympics on Friday by beating defending champions Japan in the final of the men's team epee after a sudden-death tiebreak.

Siklosi scored the winning point against Japan's Koki Kano - the gold medallist in the men's individual epee a week ago - to make it a final score of 26-25, which secured Hungary's first gold medal in the event since the Munich Olympics in 1972.

Hosts France missed out on bronze after losing 43-41 to the Czech Republic, who collected the country's first Olympic medal in a team fencing event.
