Pastor Preston. I was a bible teacher in our church a year ago and saw God powerfully move. Then some changes happened and my critical thinking skills and memory became worrisome. I stopped teaching. I recognized my pastors pulling away and am smart enough to know when enough is enough. One day after being finally diagnosed with dementia and sharing with my prayer group I walked out of church and I knew I could never go back. I got a short email from the associate pastor. “ We love you guys, we’ll have coffee” they have dropped us like a hot potato. What about us in a church where it is contemporary non denominational with a large group of seniors.

Oh my WORD!! Preston, near the end you totally brought up the single mom...I broke down! I have been struggling and continually concerned about the best way to not only shepherd my son's heart, but also to help him flourish mentally. He has a high IQ and ADHD and I'm a bit older than most moms to a 12 year old (I'm almost 52). We live in an extremely rural area so there is very little around for him to connect and do with other kids. He also had some very difficult things that happened while he was attending the only local school here so I made the very difficult decision to enroll him in virtual school last year - he did great but it was SO challenging for me, as his mom. I know this is probably a typical thought of most parents, but I'm so afraid that I'm not doing the best things for him and that it can affect him in negative ways. I would love to have a brain scan AND for him to have a brain scan so we could see the health of both our brains and have a plan to specifically put in place to increase our brain health, but I don't see that as an option at all for us. Thank you for asking that question - I intend to take the brain health assessment and get Dr. Amen's books. This was so enlightening and encouraging!! Mental Health Sickness/ Disease needs to be understood by many of us, so we are educated on how to handle any given situation thrown at us.
I know my son suffered mentally from confusion which later led to addiction!
He was tormented and not balanced in his mindset, or his emotional status!
He was in denial and believed he was doing ok! Not the final outcome in his situation!
Childhood trauma when not dealt with in early childhood stages creates so many issues when older!
One lesson is to listen with your heart showing others you really care.
A compassionate way of demonstrating Love to those who are hurting deep inside allows them to be themselves and without judgment is very impactful to a person's life.
Trigger points can cause so many unwanted behaviours, causing tragic consequences!
Mental sickness is a sickness itself, a serious matter when not dealt with correctly.

This may seem like a dumb question but how is it possible to get a brain scan in this health care system? Cause I feel doctor would want a reason for that. I always wanted one.
