This is a sample video illustration for spread and turret mooring system. A spread mooring configuration involves a vessel to be moored by anchor legs from bow and stern in a 4 group arrangement. In this type of mooring system the vessel maintains a fixed orientation. This is designed for shallow to deep water station keeping in mild to moderate environment. Spread mooring has an advantage over turret mooring as it can accommodate significantly more number of riser which provides flexibility for further field development for the operators. On the other hand a turret mooring is designed as a single point mooring which allows the vessel to weathervane about the mooring system. This allows the vessel to reorient itself depending upon the prevailing environmental direction which results in lesser loads on the mooring lines. The weathervane feature of the turret significantly reduces the green water impact of the wave on the vessels deck and the wave frequency motion and increasing the crew comfort and production plant uptime. However the turret mooring system has limitation as to its ability to accommodate additional riser for future expansion.
