Our team designed an eight point spread mooring design of the pipe-lay barge. Mooring configuration was designed for various water-depth from 20 m to 80 m. Due to different environmental conditions and directions, different arrangement of the spread mooring lines with 54-meter rope and 10 t flipper delta anchors was suggested. The stiffness of the pipeline and hydrodynamic behaviour of the stringers were coupled with the floating barge for analysis. In addition we also performed shallow water mooring for shore pull calculation at a water depth of 7m. Due to the very shallow water depth and a high wave-height to water depth ratio, additional forces had to be accounted for by modelling the reflection of water particles from the sea bed. This increased the mooring force on an average of about 1.5 T per mooring line.
