As you get older and build more confidence, you realize nobody really knows what they're doing and we're all just winging it. If you're receiving negative criticism from others for no reason, that's usually a reflection of their own insecurities. If a loved one is giving you an opinion on something, it's important to listen to them but having certainty in what you think is right should always come first. Other people's thoughts aren't yours to ruminate on.

I was having a huge crush on a guy for 6 months and finally decided to tell him. He rejected me, I felt so sad for a month but now I feel better because I'm not fantasizing anymore, I feel free 😊

I love that: People who are great are willing to stay good for longer. It means you don't gve up too easily and are able to tolerate frustration.

You nailed it. As a recovering perfectionist, I totally feel related to the latent potential. Because if it's always a potential partner, a potential essay or idea, you can always find an excuse for not being great -or even real-, because it allows you "be in control", in other words, you lose your authenticity because of the fear of uncertainty of whether other people would like you or not. Let's just remain in potential.

Watching your videos since 2010 or something, I am so impressed of the way you catch an issue, think outside the box, and articulate your ideas so intelligently, without losing your endgoal, and by adding relevant examples. You're truly an inspiration for eloquence.

To add to the topic, I also have the tendency to stay in the fantasy of my latent potential. I've noticed that I also tend to fantasise my partners, seeing mainly their potential, rejecting the red flags, or making excuses for them. This video opened my eyes to the fact that I really need to stop limering by fear of being disappointed with the reality and start actually living and making mistakes.
The part about the judgements on the reps is also very empowering.

Thank you so much for your wisdom, all of you JAMS.

People see you thru who they are. Not who you are. And really have you looked, really looked at the people around you????

I rediscovered an important point recently in regards to self esteem. You always mention it and I’ve found it to be true from experience too and it’s on my list of things to do for healing. Still, I forget. I was reminded recently. It’s about doing things that are aligned with your life goals and gives you a purpose. I changed my career path recently and I feel like a new person, or at least I remember my strengths. I’ve suddenly made great friends. It just changed everything. Unfortunately it’s still not what I want so I’m redirecting again but I feel it was a stepping stone. I think the key to overcome a fear of letting your fears hold you back is to start very small and just start something. When you’ve completed a minor task you become more confident and you dare to continue. I feel this fear of failure before starting or in the beginning. Also. We all need practice. We can become better by trying and repeating. We are not born with the skills. Maybe with some talent but it requires practice and failure is part of practice.

I never thought about fear of judgement being a fear of having potential. Because I assumed it was only a fear of doing wrong and never saw past that ... but also, doing good or not is in of itself a judgement, that we fear either way. The first 60 seconds of the video I had to write it down and think about it. Because it opened a lot more questions that I couldn't even ask for myself until now, after 2 years of therapy. Thank you.

I had a friend with a scar on his face. It always was. Even though others spoke ill of the defect and he treated everything as if he didn't care. He even made jokes about his scar, himself

"Every time you make something it's practice por the next thing you make"

Thanks for uploading this. It's really paralyzing to think what people think about you, but that quote gave me a mind shift on things. We can keep getting better every day. Hopefully I can someday learn to dance without having that fear of judgment 😁

Going to the Airport in an hour. I always think people will be looking at me while waiting to checkin and saying, "What a total mess she is" or I'll hear someone say something bad about me. I'm glad I opened my email and listened to this video. It actually doesn't matter what people think, they probably aren't thinking anything. Good video, thank you Mathew.

Better try to be open. Say everything you think without reservations. It's harder, but avoiding certain discussions will bother you even more. Nature matters a lot. Be yourself
