Right this is actually a well explained video. I’ve been on a few of these now and the comments are full of bots praising the videos when they’re not good. This is getting saved so I can use it later

Omg man. I have been trying to do this on my '03 Tahoe but could not find a decent video. Thank god you have the same car.

About to install one on my Sport Trac -- and this video is a tremendous help. Thank you for your clarity in speech, video editing, and steps. Really makes me much more comfortable tackling this.

I threw my truck in reverse to test the connection before plugging it up like you said and the truck backed into my pond. Thanks.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to power the monitor easily. Perfect 👌 👍

well, I am a total beginner at auto electric and proved that trying to hook this one up on my own w/o youtube. Thanks dad ! I'll test that thing with some more wire now that it's hooked up and see how to put the right colors on the right terminals hopefully and hopefully did not ruin the cam or monitor already ! Super helpful so thanks !

I bought all the recommended parts and installed it successfully. Thanks for the video. However, the quick splices did not work the first time on either the ground or power connections. They made connection on the backup light side but not on the camera power harness side, so I ended up soldering a segment of thicker gauge wire onto the leads of the camera power harness wires. Then the quick splices made a good connection. I don't know if the splices are marginal or the gauge of the camera power wires got smaller or whatever, but I had 0% success using them on the power wires that come with the camera kit.

Got one of these! Can’t wait to hook it up on my 2004 Silverado! Hoping it really helps with backing up to my camper

the video was very helpful, but it would be helpful to ( emphasize that  the power wire to the backup light is the  black/red stripe wire not the red wire as many people may think)  You did mention it  after watching the video a few times I picked up on it and  switched the wires and it worked perfectly. Thanks!

@0:39, the wire on the bottom right, (the VGA I think), where do you plug the red wires that’s dangling from it?
Thanks

One question:

Instead of using add a circuit, can't we just add another quick splice onto the reverse light and use that as a power source for the display screen front? so two quick splice and use it power backup camera and display screen?

I just got one of these just to find out my stereo has a place for the cam built into it so I never did use the display screen. but it was easy to hook up

I know it's been 10 months but I'm hoping you're still around and can tell me if those splicers you've used are still holding up. Your video is honestly one of the best and easiest but that'll depend if the blue things have held up.

This video is well done and very helpful.
My only issue is with the clamp on splicers. Those things should be outlawed. lol
They ALWAYS allow moisture to enter, creating corrosion and resistance.
And they almost always cut one or more strands of the parent wire
I've seen those clips cause the parent wire to break in half because of the corrosion they cause.
It's far better to cut the wire and either solder or use a wire twist nut filled with dielectric grease.
Not hatin on this video. As I said, it's well done and very informative - even after 3 years.
I just cringe when I see those clips being used.
