Sims 1 vs Sims 2 vs Sims 4 - Gardener

Sims 1
In The Sims 1, you can use the phone and hire a gardener to take care of your plants. The gardener will charge §10 per hour, and will come to do the job every three days. Gardener Gloria is an NPC in The Sims, that will come to your lot by foot if you hire her. The main job of the gardener in The Sims 1 is to water the plants. She will water your outside flowers, she will also replant any dead flowers. If you have a garden, the Gardener will also water your fruits and vegetables. Gardener Gloria will also take care of your indoor plants. She will also fill up holes that dogs may have dug.

Sims 2
in The Sims 2, NPC Gardeners were part of the base game and later expanded. Sims can use the phone and hire a gardener to take care of the plants. The Gardener will come 3 times a week, and charge §5 per visit plus §10 per hour. The Gardener in The Sims 2 will arrive in a truck and will start with his tasks right away. The Sims 2 Gardener will water the plants and will also pull out any overgrows., he will rake leaves that fall on the ground. Plants can also get infested with bugs. One of the tasks of the Gardener is to spray them with bug spray. The Gardener in The Sims 2 will also trim overgrown bushes, greenery and trees. After he's done for the day, The Gardener will charge you and leave.

Sims 4
In The Sims 4, NPC Gardeners were added with Patch 30 in 2016. Use the phone to can hire a gardener to take care of your plants. You can call for a one time service, or a scheduled maintenance. The Gardener will come to your lot every day. They will spray every plant that is infected with bugs, until they're bug free. Gardeners will also tend overgrown plants. They'll also tend vertical gardens. Gardeners will plant more seeds in your garden on their own
Unlike The Sims and The Sims 2, Plants and flowers from build mode don't need tending in The Sims 4. Only the the ones you plant. Gardeners will also water your plants. After they're done with the tasks for the day, they'll charge you and leave.

Sims 1 is so "Pay to Win"... Because you have to pay other sims to do your housework so you can attend your ever lowering needs

I like the fact that in Sims1 and Sims2 build mode plants need trimming and watering, but I also like the flowers being a harvestable in Sims4. I wish Sims3 did that...
(I know they have some harvestable flowers if you have Seasons, but I really miss the Sims2 flowerbeds in The Sims3...)

In Sims 2 if you hire a butler he'll do all the chores including the gardening, maid and nanny duties

I'll express an unpopular opinion, but I miss live houseplants in the later parts of the game.
To prevent this from becoming an annoying routine, the flowers should need to be watered less often, and before dying, go through several stages: decreased turgor, yellowing of old leaves, yellowing of new growth and drying of old leaves, the above-ground part of the plant is dead but the roots are alive, it has died completely. The same with overwatering: the earthen lump is still wet, the soil becomes waterlogged, the roots rot, the roots die but the above-ground part is alive and can be re-rooted, the whole plant is rotted and dead (and smells).

In The Sims 1 I bought a large house with a lot of shrubs and other plants. The gardener would come over, work until exhaustion and it wouldn’t cover a fraction of the yard. My Sim basically had to do yardwork around the clock to keep the room need from going completely red outdoors.

Sims 2 is so goddamn (excuse the language) special to me man!.
Played it with my sisters on our dads shitty work laptop, the frame rate was horrendous but we still got that end game shit, that good shit.
We had a small apartment and we just maxed out the ground and raised the whole thing, yeah i know kids like us were insane back then!.

I wish there was an option in The Sims 4 to toggle on/off having to water your plants, not just crops and flowers. It would make it a fun challenge if you had lots of plants in your house to take care of. 🌿

I cannot compare TS4, as I have not played since they patched the npc gardener in. TS1, having a gardener becomes a true must-have, as room score impacts moods so harshly (promotions are impossible with low mood scores), and it is tough to get your sims to garden when moods are low.

With that said, I still find TS2's NPC gardeners a bit better, albeit wish they both came daily. I like how you can actually socialize and befriend the gardener in TS2. I was saddened that TS3 did not reintroduce the gardeners, but of course, the modding community remedied that❣

While I do appreciate that TS4 gardeners can work daily, from what I see here, their work does not appear as organic as even TS1, and TS2 just blows their NPCs away.

I appreciate TS1's gardeners for their replanting dead flowers, and TS2's for composting dead plants and raked leaves❣👏👏👏
