Having trouble connecting to your friend’s LAN world in Minecraft and making it work? In this tutorial, we'll go through all the different reasons why Minecraft LAN is not working with your friends. UPDATED for more recent versions of Minecraft, like 1.20.6 and 1.21

🔗 Helpful Links:

Common errors include:

○ Make sure both you and your friend are connected to the same WiFi network and not using a VPN to play Minecraft together, especially if playing LAN from a distance.

○ Verify you are using compatible network types and the same Minecraft version, and confirm the host’s game is set to allow LAN connections.

○ Address common LAN connection issues in Minecraft by setting your network to private, disabling your firewall temporarily, and adding Minecraft and its launcher to your Firewall/Antivirus exceptions, ensuring all Java-related options are marked "Private".

Thanks for checking this out, and I hope it works for you guys.

If it doesn't, watch this tutorial on how to host a FREE MINECRAFT SERVER to play with friends from anywhere! It's just as easy.

Thanks man! Now can my daughter and I play Minecraft again!! After I moved to a new apartment with a new ISP and router we could'nt play together. I've tried everything. Can't see the server in the list so I use Direct Connection. Thanks again! You got us some nice father-daughter-time this weekend!

Just a quick comment - I got mine working with one computer wifi and other computer ethernet. It seems that so long as they are both on the same network it doesn't matter how you connect, which makes sense given that a network is a network.

For some reason, my Minecraft worlds have the Multiplayer option activated, but whenever I enter a world, the multiplayer option is off.
¿Why?

I tried the same configuración listed on the video. Opened a World to Lan, an the other PC doesn't detecta the World on Mutliplayer, and if I try a Directa connect ion it says: Login Error: Sesión not valid. Restart launcher.
I use Sklauncher, and tried to change username in both PCs, without success... Any alternatives?
