This is always my go to for simple vanilla worlds with friends or for modpacks with just two of us, but it really taxes your PC if you’re trying to run a bigger modpack with multiple people

I suggest learning how to set it up. You'll get further than most in knowing how a server is set up and the limitations. I know i did when my first server ip got leaked and had 200 players storming in while im screaming "IM RUNNING ON A DUAL CORE!" fun times 😂

An alternative is a mod called e4mc which is this without all the bloat (only for newer versions though)

There's also some free server alternatives that are much more powerful but also hard to set up if you are new, like ubuntu servers

Fun fact: you can add essential to any mod pack and it will work as long as you have the right version and your friends have the same mods
