I also just thought I'd point out that there isn't really ever a "right" way to revise, and although these tips have been really useful for me and when helping others, they may not work for you! I think it's important to try out new things and ultimately use whatever works best for you. You can even make flashcards online or on an app if you prefer!

- flashcards should never be rewritten class notes
- the most effective flashcards are ones that make you engage with them and think
- summarise information on them
- replace words with
- write questions on the flashcard and do the answers on the back
- miss out words in quotes and on the back, fill them in
- written prompts, themes/characters or diagram prompts
- make it visual: use colour, highlighters.
- remove unnecessary words, only include keywords​.

The way I do flashcards that got me through A-Levels and the uni so far is by using a traffic light method. I read the card and try and see how well I know the content (or how comfortable I am with it and that topic). If I know it off by heart and I can get full marks in a relative question then I highlight the front with a green line, then yellow is moderate knowledge and red is very little knowledge. I will do this with all of my flashcards and after two sessions of revising them I move all of the green cards to a separate pile (or I put them at the back) and I concentrate more on the red and yellow ones. If you do this for a few days/weeks I promise you will have committed more to memory than just passively reading the cards. I hope this helps someone! <3
