It was a long held belief that pine needles acidify the soil. 🌲 This myth has been busted in recent years with multiple studies showing they are neutral to the soil below.🎓 It all started with the PH measurement of the pine needles when fresh off the tree which is acidic. Also, a misconception when people saw very little growing below pine trees. 🧐

The reason very little grows below pine trees is that they block out the light, the needles act as a mulch and their roots take up moisture setting the undergrowth at a disadvantage. It has nothing to do with making the soil more acidic. 🌲

Pine straw will not readily float away like mulch made from tree bark does in excessive water conditions.

My buddy got a load of pine straw for his greenhouse. It contained nematodes which killed most of his plants. Exercise caution before you add things to your soil.

That is too dense a stand of pine. Look at how lollipoped they look with weak crowns. The area would thrive chopping half of those down.

🤔 Where pine needles have fallen on a powder coated IBR roof, it has rusted through .. whereas everywhere else that the pine needles don't reach, but other leaves do, the same roof is pristine.

pine trees will kill your fruit trees over time. Go to any Public park that has fruit trees and pine trees and see it in real time.
