At 12.17 into the video re winter mode. That means there is no battery preconditioning set on the car. This is a software update that the dealers can do. Anything after 2023
Has battery preconditioning as standard. Don’t buy any Ioniq 5 without this updated as charging speeds at dc fast chargers will be non existent. Costs the dealer nothing to do. When done you won’t see winter mode but instead battery preconditioning

Great review Derek, thanks for reviewing a used EV it’s great to see, especially for someone thinking of changing. More of these used reviews would be amazing.

Just ordered a new one of these. We got a big discount, probably because the new one is coming in a month or two. Spent rather more than we would normally on a car, but we are hoping to keep it for the long-term. We got solar panels a couple of years ago, so hopefully we will get lots of free electricity.

Glad to see this video after 80K kilometres, hopefully will mean that our investment is secure.

Like your coast to coast to reviews, reviews of cars which are a couple of years old are useful and something I do not get anywhere else. That is seriously useful, so more please.

The higher end spec Ioniq 5s always looked to me like a sort of Audi Quattro from the late 1970s early 1980s. That is a compliment. At the time Quattros blew away much more premium cars and had the added advantage that they stayed on the road even if you were not the racing driver you imagined yourself to be. I think the Ioniq 5 deserves respect (do I mean respec?).

Love the Integrale styling. Very big machine for parking. Good warranty.

For 80k km it is holding up well. More used reviews please. 350 to 500km range impressive with no battery degradation.
I feel the headrest is pushing my head forward in the ionic 5.

Thanks. Des

Fantastic review Derek the first i have seen on a used EV well done
That car has not had the new fantastic battery pre conditioning software update which is a massive loss for the next owner ... I think this is an example on how dealers just couldn't be bothered to update to the latest software when they trade in cars pretty poor really.
Finally I'd want a state of health (SOH)battery print out from the cars ECU handed to me before I'd even contemplate purchasing any EV this would show how much percentage the battery has degraded since new
Dealers should be displaying all this info on the windscreen for prospective EV Buyers
Why they don't is beyond me.

Nice video Derek 👏 I've had my I5 for 2.5 years and 20k now, it's an excellent car. Looks great, drives great and plenty of room inside. Still love the pop out door handles, sadly lacking on your review car. Last Thursday i charged to 100% for the bank holiday (usually charge to 80%) and it was giving a range of 423km, well past the WLTP of 384km (58kW batt). For my usage I usually charge once a week from 30/40% to 80% on AC.
Due to change next January and will be considering the incoming I5 facelift model, as well as some of the Kia EV's.
I think the earlier models of the I5 had better spec to value, the new car prices seem to be higher now for less spec. Maybe its a sign that the Hyundai brand is selling well and they have managed the supply well so haven't been caught up in the EV price war.

My understanding is the ioniq 5 has auto /smart regen whereas some models eg.Renault Megane e-tech does not so needs a lot more attention.

There was a statement from Hyundai implying the Ioniq 5 might be getting wireless Android Auto/Car Play I cant link it here, but here is an excerpt from it:
"Additionally, the software update will ship to Hyundai Grandeur, Sonata facelift, the new Santa Fe, IONIQ 5, and Kia EV9."
Is that just not out yet or will it just not be dropped back to this version ?
