I really enjoyed making this video. It gave me an opportunity to look back and reflect on what really worked to normalize my morning blood sugars and what I need to come back to (e.g. excercise). I hope it will inspire some of you to find ways to reduce morning blood sugar and improve your diabetes management.

I love your videos they help me feel calm living with a condition so troublesome!

I’m glad I’m a type 2 diabetic who isn’t on insulin but I still find it hard to manage my blood sugars sometimes and it can be very scary when they’re higher than I’d like them to be.

The longest Intermittent Fasting I did was twice for 44 hours and my BS levels were surprisingly stable over that time. All I had was black coffee and water during the fasting. I did feel hungry toward the end of it and needed to eat something. I typically try to eat a Low Carb diet, and was doing good for 6 months, then cravings come into the picture, so now have to reset and get back into it again. So you're correct in saying that Low Carb isn't a long term solution, but can do it over certain periods. I did lose 40 lbs which was a great benefit and felt so much better. Enjoy your Channel Tom, keep it up mate

My DOG has IDDM and my vet has put one of these on him... Talk about overwhelming and poor explantion, esp. for an old person with few computer skills. I watched this video and it really gave me info my Vet didn't. It is an entirely different story with an animal... but this did help

When I got my first finger-prick meter in 2019, I discovered "on my own" that if I wanted to see a reasonable level in the morning, I had to stop putting things in my mouth by 6 PM. Instructions for planned blood draws at a lab always say "Nothing after midnight", which really is not at all challenging and misleads people. 6PM is the new Midnight!!!

I just wanted to say "thank you" for sharing your experiences with all of us. I for one am appreciative. I have been a 1.5 diabetic for 28 yrs. myself and have only just gotten under control within the last few months. I am really insulin resistant and only now, while on Fiasp, the G5 CGM and Omnipod Dash am I truly managing my diabetes. Wishing you continued good health. Stay safe and God bless

Excellent topic! The biggest thing that spikes my blood sugars at breakfast are high carb/sugar breakfast cereals or pastries. Problem is that I love them! I am on shots and my work arounds are to take my Lymajev insulin earlier than normal and/or splitting up the meal into two portion and eating a portion a hour later. I also typically save those higher carbs breakfasts on the days I do my regular gym work-out in the morning 3 days a week and need those carbs for energy and when my blood sugar is 130 to 180 before a workout it is ideal as it always drops fast. I also have very consistent in range blood sugars in the morning taking a shot of Tresiba in the morning (amount rarely changes at 18 to 20 units) and making sure my blood sugars are good before I go to bed, which also assures me of a good night sleep as I don't have to wake up to fix highs and lows. I also eat dinner around 5 PM and avoid high protein/fat meals as the almost always require an extra shot or two of Lymajev to compensate for the slow digestion up to 5 to 8 hours later!

I’m experiencing the Dawn Effect a lot now that I’ve changed my work schedule. It’s frustrating, but you have given me solutions. No carbs after 7pm. And more activity. Also, we’re being lied to about HBA1C? Yikes! Im in the danger zone and being told it’s ok. Nope! Not for me. You are my savior buddy!!! So thankful for your research. Big hugs going out.

I hate doctors and other "experts" who blame the diabetes sufferer for high blood sugar. I've been told over and over that I eat "too many carbs" when I DON'T EAT CARBS! "You eat too much and don't exercise". I intermittent fast and swim daily. I'm keto, high vegetables, moderate protein. According to current medical wisdom--PERFECT! Why is my blood sugar high? I have no idea! But I'm working hard to heal homeostasis.

My glucose tends to drop below 70 a few times during the night. A high for me now is about 100. I exercised 6 days a week and try to keep my carbs below 150. I also take chromium to help with my levels. All this has stop me from having 140 to 150 morning spikes.

Great video again.

I have dawn affect. Other than morning exercise I haven’t found anything that helped before this. Also my glucose tends to drop in the afternoon and just after I fall asleep.

I notice immediate change (lower)when I drink alcohol, however blood sugar rises again after about 30 to 40 minutes.

Everything spikes my blood sugar in the morning. I tend to eat meat and eggs in the morning, which affects me less.

Great tips! I've been type 1 for over 30 years. I have pronounced dawn phenomenon. I do omad plus very low carb. It's just a fact the eating raises blood glucose so eating once a day means that I have one peak in glucose that is not complicated by adding meal on meal without ever bringing my glucose back into range. I don't suffer with hypos even though I fast 23hrs., I need to avoid lows as I have no awareness and suffer seizures with hypos so it's really important for me to get my basal spot on! I exercise for an hour in the morning to help my am insulin resistance too!

I did intermittent fasting for close to 18 hours every day some days 20 hours for about 2 years and my A1c went from 6.1 to 7.2 in a year. I quit fasting added more protein and a little bit of good carbs and my blood sugars are doing better.. I do most carbs in the morning and my blood sugars are way better than they were eating super low carb and fasting. While I was fasting after 18 hours my bgl would be close to 200s 🥴🥴🥴 I am type 2 diabetic in menopause insulin resistance and hashimoto ..I’m sure those things have something to do with my unusual results.. ♥️
