Overview of the process of applying the Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield to a concrete basement floor. I showed all the prep steps and the products I used to complete the job. I also tested the surface at the end for abrasion resistance and gave a cost estimate for a small basement.

Nice results! We coated our garage floor + glossy top coat and it has stayed pristine for 12 yrs. Debating whether to do the top coat for the basement as well.

What are your thoughts on covering a basement floor that may have some dampness that comes up after a hard rain???? Drylok makes a basement floor sealer which is designed to provide a hydrostatic seal and keeps dampness from coming thru.... Their final coverage paint (over the sealer) is just an extreme DRYLOK Paint, again with hydrostatic sealer. I did the epoxy kit on my garage and loved it, but am concerned about doing this on a basement floor due to the dampness. Thoughts? How is your floor dealing with dampness after a hard rain??

How did you get the recommended thickness? My coverage was more than the estimated cover by quite a bit using a 1/2" nap roller. Manual states 3mil thickness, but I am not seeing that type of thickness.

If there is paint already on my floor, would i need to strip that paint off first before the etching step?

Man, I'm just going to use concrete paint.
